Re: So much for Iced Earth...

Since this all kicked off I've been rediscovering Iced Earth in a major way. This certainly won't put me off listening to the band's music - hell, if that kind of thing did, noone would ever listen to some black metal bands again. Considering they haven't toured over here in years, this is best thin...

Re: Album of the Year - ROUND 2

1. Katatonia (by a mile)
2. Paradise Lost
3. The Ocean
4. Demons and Wizards (not that I want to give anything to him right now)
5. Solstafir (I guess)

Re: So much for Iced Earth...

People are afraid trump will become totalitarian. I don't think he will/can, and he has never actually broken the law. Though he woul probably brake the law if he could get away with it, he won't because, unlike the real facist despots, he will lose the vast majority of his supporters. Therfore, ca...

Re: So much for Iced Earth...

Just a few points: Keynesian economics Is facist -Trump does not go for that. Not at all. He’s protectionist free market all the way. Expansion through war is facist - Trump has started less international conflict than any president in my lifetime. Anti-democratic policies are facist - I think Trum...

Re: So much for Iced Earth...

What were the goals of the "protest" then, if not to overturn the results of the election, and thus install Trump as what would be an unelected leader? Yeah, he and the rest of them probably did do it for their idea of freedom, but that idea of freedom seems incredibly nebulous, and seems ...

Re: So much for Iced Earth...

We still don't know John's motivation, and that is important. Very important. To react to the possibility that someone has undertaken a social and political transgression, by say: feeling disgust at your prior-self watching their band, or wishing the accused livelihood to be taken away, creates poo...

Re: Guess what date gigs will be back to normal (no social distancing)

I'm going to be a bit more optimistic and say January. That's providing things don't get drastically worse of course, but I imagine by then, perhaps even sooner the clubs will be under such financial pressure they will have to open or even more will shut down. The government aren't going to be fundi...

Re: Next Announcement

Hoping for a much a better Sunday Sophie headliner so that works for me. Get Satan back, they were awesome in '14 and they fit really well with Priest, Saxon, Diamond Head... I'd rather Hatebreed were on the Sunday. I can watch Priest (didn't think much of them last time, but I'll give them another...

Re: Amenities improvements/requests

I don't like the idea of cashless festivals. Tried it at 2000 Trees one year and it was just a ballache - constant crashes, meaning half the time you couldn't buy anything at all, or the stalls just gave up and took cash. It was also on a special wrist thing that was pretty cumbersome, and didn't gi...

Re: Next Announcement

Pretty interesting listen. I still get the feeling she doesn't have a clue about power metal. It just depends how which bands you get. That statement at the end could be Idle Hands or Bossk - both would be pretty obvious if you said the genre. Its probably Hatebreed though - I get the feeling they'l...

Re: Next Announcement

Re: Next Announcement

random thought as the ammount of people loving this announcement, do you think the fest will sell out and sell out quick because of rolled over tickets ect ? Doubt it, they aren't a big band in the scheme of things. Fair play to Bloodstock for getting them, I didn't think there was a chance they wo...

Re: Next Announcement

If we're just throwing names out: Disturbed (DOWN with the sickness after all) Babymetal (maybe why they weren't rebooked for Download) Manowar (allegedly playing festivals, before they decide they can't be bothered) I'd take any of those bands over most of the bands mentioned. But lets face it, we ...

Re: Next Announcement

Dino Cazares has responded to a tweet from Vicky saying: "I'm Down to hear who it's going to be" - but then someone responded to that saying it's someone who has never headlined before so who knows. Vicky didn't do anything to deny it in her reply...I'm pretty sure he knows exactly who it...

Re: Next Announcement

God, I hope its not Down. Aside from Anselmo being a racist, there music is just a bit boring, and definitely doesn't lend itself to headlining a festival. Considering he's already there though, that's probably exactly who it is.
