Re: Next Announcement

Lost Society are ok, none of the others sound particularly interesting to me.

Really shocked Lost Society are openers. Surely they are way bigger than Svalbard? Seems odd.

Re: Next Announcement

Lost Society, Wolf Jaw and Gravelines (that I can see) added randomly with no announcement? + Video Nasties and Vexed When others zig BOA zags... Thanks, thought there must be more but couldn't remember who was on there before. I quite like the way they'd done it to be honest, just added a few band...

Re: Next Announcement

I imagine the worst of it will be over by Bloodstock, but there will still be restrictions in place that prevent festivals taking place, so I don't think it will happen unfortunately. Its going to cause trouble for festivals for years to come I feel, money is going to be hard to come by for organise...

Re: Next Announcement

Its hard to imagine the hysteria lasting until August anyway, and the UK government does seem like it wants to carry on business as usual. I imagine by then we'll either be fine or all dead so it won't matter.

Re: Next Announcement

I think Unleash the Archers are about the right kind of band for the sophie stage - pretty big name in certain circles but relatively unknown outside of it. That kind of logic could be applied to lots of reasonably sized metal bands though. The simple fact is that it's mental that popular bands lik...

Trouble is the rest of the lineup looks pretty poor in comparison and it means they could probably play halfway up the main instead and noone w...

Re: Next Announcement

Uh, who? Once again an announcement filled with the sound of the barrel being scraped. Who are Savage Master, and why are they on the mainstage - they sound like they'd struggle to get New Blood. I've heard of Pist, Black Tongue and Blasphemer before. Like none of them. Hadn't heard of Liberty Lies ...

Re: Next Announcement

Svalbard are pretty good, I'm assuming they'll open the stage and that's a pretty good opener. Seen them a few times at Arctangent, and while I would describe them as "post-hardcore" they are more experimental than that suggests. Probably would be better on the Sophie though. Soen are band...

Re: Next Announcement

I usually find decent bands on the Sophie, they usually have a few bands I've never heard of that turn out to be amazing. The question is, is that enough? I'm not paying my ticket price to watch Wheel or Helheim, decent as they both were, and I'd much rather watch a band I'd heard of as an alternati...

Re: Next Announcement

Re: Next Announcement

The Sophie stage I would count as their biggest failure to be honest. It was 2012 they first expanded it into a full day event - and really the quality of bands on the stage hasn't grown since then. Alcest even back then were bigger than Cattle Decapitation and Bloodywood are now, and I'd argue Anaa...

Re: Next Announcement

Gandalf makes a good point, BOA's either sleepwalked into cornering itself in a busy marketplace or hasn't dominated any corner of the market allowing competition to find a niche. UK Death Fest/Damnation/Incineration- Death/Black. BOA can compete with them by booking the bigger bands (ala Behemoth)...
