2020 Albums

Postby Blake_Porter » Tue Dec 03, 2019 8:25 am

Wow, can’t believe that not only another year has nearly surpassed us, but a whole decade too. Doesn’t feel like it was nearly 10 years ago that 2010 began and here we are talking about 2020 now.

Anyway, as is tradition, let’s have a thread for discussing albums that will be released in 2020 that you are looking forward to hearing.

Just had a scroll through “2020 in Heavy Metal Music” Wikipedia page and have picked out a few that I’m looking forward to listening to:

-Sepultura - The first song they released off it was pretty good, always been a fan of Derrick tbh. Maybe even more so than Max as well, if I’m being honest.

- Annihilator - Never been much of a fan of Theash Metal, but Annihilator are great and I usually enjoy their output. Hopefully this will be no different.

-Kirk Windstein - just curious what it will sound like, more than anything.

-Suicide Silence - Last album was wank, but the song the released from those upcoming album sounds like a return to form. Much like my opinion in Sepultura, I much prefer the new vocalist, Eddie, to Mitch.

I am definitely looking forward to the new Sepultura album. It's released on the same day as the new Delain album which has one of the worst artworks I've ever seen.

The new Demons & Wizards album was announced yesterday. It has a terrible name - 'III' - and will be released on 21st February. Despite the lazy name I am looking forward to this one.

I'm also interested in the new British Lion, Seven Spires and Temperance albums which will be released early next year. We should get new albums from Testament, Nightwish and maybe even Iron Maiden too.

It gave me the same reaction as Maiden's Dance of Death artwork, thinking for a few seconds that it's an elaborate joke before realizing "hang on, they're being serious".

The 'Dance of Death' artwork at least had a solid concept, but Steve decided he preferred the draft version. I think the idea with 'Apocalypse and Chill' is that the woman is totally indifferent to the world falling apart around her. The problem is that it looks cut & paste together. I hope the music doesn't give me the same impression.

New Demons and Wizards is the only one with a date that I have my eye on, but I will be hoping for a new Nightwish, Satyricon and the (understandably) long overdue My Dying Bride.

Dance of death has to be the worst artwork by a major band ever. The actual artists version was minimal, but technically quite good. The illustrator got totally screwed over by Steve's bad taste/judgment.
Welcome to a brave new world/ The future here or haven't you heard?

Just seen the new Delain album details. IMO, the name is far far worse than the cover.

Looked up the Delain album after reading this and wow  you're not kidding. Wonder if they'll make it their back drop for their tour

Problem I have is, a lot of the albums I'm looking forward to aren't guaranteed a 2020 release, just strongly hinted as such. Got a few like that at the moment: Anthrax, Exodus, Testament, Razor, Aerosmith, Megadeth, Faith No More, Dark Angel, Suicidal Tendencies and Helgrind off the top of my head.

Dark Fortress, Nightwish and hopefully Vassafor are what I'm waiting for most.

Christ that's an appalling cover.

Demons & Wizards' new one is what I'm most looking forward to next year, but Lovebites, Helloween, Wolf & Nightwish are certainly up there too. I still have hopes that a new Hell album might appear eventually but with Priest supporting Ozzy being pushed back again it looks ever less likely to be any time soon.
Hell ain't a bad place to be(er)

Sylosis have a new album coming out in February. Anyone remember them? They used to open for everyone and played each year of Sonisphere.

So much for the singer's claim that he was going to pursue both Architects and Sylosis simultaneously  Guess Architects are going to have some downtime now. Also playing Islington Assembly Hall in February.

Man, feeling nostalgic for Sonisphere now :(

Listen to Anthrax on the same weekend every year.
