I checked this out and its flipping great, thanks!

I get what you mean about trying to put it in a genre. Sort of scando melodeath meets melodic-death-doom. The piano adds a gothic hint too I think. I saw it described as the lovechild of Insomnium, Amon Amarth and Omnium Gatherum and I think that's not far off.

I've also enjoyed Uada.

Happy to help. Funny when I heard the piano it reminded me of the soundtrack to the film Psycho 3 and that made me check out more.

Lord Almighty's new album Wither is a good head banging black metal album.

Draconian's new album Under a Godless Veil is beautiful doom.

The new Of Feather And Bone album is out today.

First heard these guys when they played with Tomb Mold last year and discovered the "Bestial Hymns of Perversion" album was awesome so I've been eagerly awaiting this new one.

My band released our debut album back in April. I don't hate it, which is a big deal for me. Would I be out of place if I posted a link for people to hear it?

I very much doubt anyone would complain, especially as you're a regular(ish) poster.

Then again, it's incredibly quiet on this board at the moment without any gigs or festivals to get excited about.

Recent standouts for me are:

Finntroll - Vredesvävd
Fires in the Distance - Echoes from Deep November
Armored Saint - Punching the Sky
Draconian - Under a Godless Veil
Countless Skies - Glow
Dark Tranquillity - Moment

Both excellent albums - the Countless Skies one feels like a real step up from their previous one (which is a compliment as New Dawn is a good album) and the DT one is a belter and whilst I liked the previous two ones this is so much better in my opinion.

New Solstafir album "Endless Twilight of Co-dependent Love" is as expected a super piece of work absolutely love it
