Yawning Man - London Borderline

YM are like the Dead Sea Scrolls of stoner/desert rock - pre-dating Kyuss and the 1000 copycat bands who wouldn't know a desert from a sandpit, they play spacey instrumental jams and the interplay between the musicians was superb. Guitarist Gary Arce plays in a style more like slowed down surf music or even country, which makes them stand out more. Openers Sons of Alpha Centuri are cut from a similar cloth, and YMs Mario Lalli gets up for a recital during one of their tunes. Good attendance and could well be in top 5 gigs of the year.

Next up - but if change for William Control in Chester on Monday

Last one was Fall Of Summer festival (with Internal Suffering, Omnipotent Hysteria, Foetal Juice, Oncology and Colpoclesisis in Liverpool the night before).

Next one will be Whispered, Countless Skies, Necronautical and A Clockwork Opera in Manchester on the 17th, unless I decide to go and see Discharge in Manchester the night before....

I saw her at MFVF a couple of years ago, but I have to admit I'd never even heard of her until she was announced for that...

Last gig: HRH Highway to Hell (mainly for Regulus' guest headline set - and congratulations to them on getting signed to a label!)

Next gig: Probably HRH Doom v Stoner, unless a local gig pops up that takes my fancy.

Not make it to any of The Sirens shows a few years back? Managed to see them four times. Massively excited about seeing her solo for the first time though. Not been a fan for as long as 20 years (2008/9 I think), but tears laid in earth is one of my favourite albums - got a tattoo based on it. Probably run into you there!

Last show: Stream of Passion DVD recording in Amstelveen, Netherlands. Excellent setlist bar my favourite song Passion, crowds in Netherlands are always pretty dull though. Twice more before they call it quits, London in October and the last ever show in December (know a few coming to Utrecht from abroad for that one, should be fun as I didn't know anyone at the DVD recording)

Last: Snuffest in Bristol- decent bill of stoner/doom/psyche. Trippy Wicked, Sigirya Asteroid and Deville were the highlights, and Oak, Radar Men From The Moon Anta and Beehoover made good first impressions. Good organisation between 2 neighbouring venues so there were little in the way of clashes

Next: Valley of The Sun in Manchester

Last gig was a couple weeks ago. It was Power Quest at The Underworld. Have to say the new line-up is awesome! And the new material is excellent!

Next one is Diamond Head in Islington at the beginning of next month

Last - Valley of The Sun were pretty good in Manchester, decent support from Dot Legacy and 1968, shame about the turn out (about 30) when a lot of the usual faces at these kind of gigs were absent.
Next - busy week - Chuck Moesley in Chester tonight, Warlocks in Manchester on Friday, HrH Stoner vs Doom this weekend, and if I'm still awake, All Them Witches on Monday and The Mission on Tuesday.

Ooo I like The Warlocks but hadn't realised they were touring the UK. I think I'll get a London ticket so cheers for the heads up.
