Next: In an unexpected turn I'll be going to Radio 1's Big Weekend on Sunday. Mrs was gonna take eldest, mainly to see Little Mix however she'll be on the back of 2 night shifts and turns out LM are opening rather than playing late on so I'll be taking eldest instead. Haven't found anything on the line up I actually want to see yet but I have discovered there's a real ale bar so that'll help.

Last - Fleshcrawl last night.

Next - would have been possessed at the underworld in a couple of weeks but I’m on family holiday with the kids (firstworldproblems) so next is now Alien Weaponry at same venue.

I do feel better about it as I’m getting to see possessed a couple of times at the end of the month in Belgium and Poland :)

Yeah, Graspop in Belgium and then Mystic festival in Poland a few days later.

Won’t get a full set but think they get around 50 minutes at both.

Never heard of mystic fest before. Good line up. Krakow is a nice city too. Go to Auschwitz if you get time.

Which is not much less than most headliners seem to play these days anyway. :(

Yeah I’d never heard of it before either. Great line up this year for me though. And like you say, I’m told krakow is good place to visit.
Had Graspop booked in for ages but then mate out of the blue asked me along to mystic and although it’s back to back fests, once I got the clearance from the Mrs to go, it was a no brainier!
And cheers for the tip although not sure we’ll get much tourist time tbh.

Last: Alice in Chains, Birmingham. the setlist was pretty much perfect for me, give or take a couple of tracks. Down in a Hole and Nutshell were brilliant in particular. William Duvall is just a consistently excellent singer.

Katatonia, London. loved every minute of this. NITND is one of my favourite albums and it was great to see it in full. Departer was unbelievable live. i can't believe they've hardly ever played it before. it's just great to have them back when at one point it seemed like we'd never see them again.

Next: Download.

Last: Radio 1's Big Weekend (Sunday)
Pale Waves were the band of the day which was a nice discovery, only went to see them because the sound mix for Catfish & the Bottlemen was rubbish. Also really enjoyed Sean Paul, Ellie Goulding, Sigrid, Rita Ora & Zara Larrson. Twenty One Pilots were crap as were The 1975. Really good day overall though.

Next: Wildthorn in Newcastle.

Not the sort of thing one expects to see on a metal forum very often.

In other news, I've been railroaded in to seeing Ed Sheeran with the family in July. Fer fucksake! On the flip, The Darkness have been announced as the support. Random but not an entirely grumpy old man day for me.

I'm going to Silverstone this year, and I've got the option of watching Razorlight and Craig David as the entertainment.

Think I'll hang around the bars & find a mechanic to bore with.

Ah doing your dad duty
Just think of all the small metal gigs you could have gone to with that money.

I wasn't expecting to like Sean Paul but there ya go. Took the mrs and eldest to see Ed Sheeran last year. His ballads are crap but when he does his faster stuff that builds up layers with his loop pedals and that he's really good. Very very expensive for just a guy with a guitar and a video wall though.
