Tribulation and ATW were good but I actually thought their freakouts were the best bits. All their songs started and ended great but the vocal parts were a bit meh.

Next.. Desaster & Archgoat

I find All Them Witches quite hypnotic to watch. Tribulation have a cool image.

Yeah I was disappointed they no longer finish with Monstrance Clock.

Did you get to the barrier? It took me ages to get there but I arrived bang on 6.30. I was about 10 from the front LHS for Trib but then wanted a beer so stood slightly further back on RHS for the rest and the sound was much better.

Yeah I queued from 5.30. It was quite easy to get near the front for ghost because they weren't stopping you walking down the edges like they did last time I was there. I don't think it was sold out so don't know why they stopped selling tickets early on. Sound was great for me but I had ear plugs in.

My last gig was also Ghost/All Them Witches/Tribulation but in Nottingham. Got in early for Tribulation although they didn't start until 7pm. Thought they were excellent! Watched a bit of ATW then headed to the bar to catch up with a mate so can't really judge them fairly. Sounded very proggy/stonery to me and certainly made the overall lineup more diverse!

Ghost were basically flawless as expected. I've not seen them since Bloodstock 2017 so it was great to finally hear the new stuff live along with unexpected cuts like Spirit and Satan Prayer. Although I do prefer the earlier incarnations of Papa, it's clear that Tobias has gained a lot more confidence as the Cardinal and can use the extra stage space that comes with arena shows effectively. My only complaint is that I'm short so my view in arenas is usually pretty rubbish, hence the only other arena show I've been to is Iron Maiden on the Final Frontier tour. I felt sorrier for the dude that was even shorter than me stood next to me though

All in all a great gig, but kinda bittersweet that we probably won't ever see Ghost in smaller venues anymore!

Last gig - Ghost @ Leeds Arena last night. Left my full review in the Gigs, Tours amd Festivals section but suffice to say I came away rather disappointed.

Next gig - Battle Beast @ Manchester Club Academy

Forgot to add my next gig. Thinking of doing Uriah Heep and Diamond Head at Norwich UEA early December. :)

In the interest of full disclosure, I should point out that I also said that I'd been stood in the same spot for over an hour or I was coming back from the toilet/bar to stand where I'd been stood for over an hour and the dicks behind me had turned up only a few mins before the band were due to start.

Tall people have every right to stand where they hell they want. I'm average height and yes we'd all like a perfect view of the stage but screw them.

The ones who annoy me are the ones who push through at the last second and then stand in a non-existent spot right in front of me so I have to move.

Or the ones who continually chat through the gig.

We could probably devote an entire thread to rude and annoying people at gigs.

Last (x2): Tim Minchin - Fucking superb.
Chantel McGregor - last minute attendance in Darlington as there was a ticket going spare, she can seriously play will happily see her again (the bassist was bloody fantastic).

Next: Razorlight in Newcastle
[Edit]
Not Razorlight now, clashes with our eldest doing a performance with school in the town, think the next thing I have booked is Rammstein in Coventry but will no doubt be at something long before then. Eyeing up Manor Fest atm.

Last: Ghost, Leeds. The over long instrumental stuff aside, I really enjoyed it.

Next: Amon Amarth, Manchester.

Last: Halestorm at the Nottingham Arena. It was good to see them bumped up to arenas and they played like a band who deserve to be there. I wasn't keen on the support bands - In This Moment and New Years Day - though.

Next: Sumo Cyco at the Camden Underworld tomorrow night.

Last: Sacred Reich in London. The support Night demon aren't really my thing but they put on a great show so I reccommend people check them up if they like Iron Maiden type bands.
Sacred Reich played the perfect headline show. Songs from the new album fitted in well. Fantastic night.

Next: Desaster/Archgoat/Mork in London on Sunday.

That's a blessing in disguise if you ask me.

Last: Fontaines D.C. last night at the Forum which was insane. I don't think I've been to a gig quite like that since Nirvana in 1991. Virtually the entire floor was a seething sea of bodies which only let up for the couple of slower tunes they played. Brilliant band who are on the cusp of great things. Seeing them again at Brixton in February which is also sold out, so the arenas are probably already the next step for them.

Next: Desaster & Archgoat on Sunday.
Yes, really this time.
