The new Alcest is brilliant, somewhat predictably. I like the new Mayhem and Nile too although it's questionable whether they'll maintain my interest for long.

Spotify is great btw. Ten quid a month for access to virtually everything ever in good quality (indeed, perfectly good quality for most people's needs). It had got to the point where I only bothered buying CDs still to play in the car, my CD player died the other week so I really can't justify buying them at all anymore. I appreciate this doesn't benefit artists financially much but let's be honest, most small bands have alway smade their money from gigs and merch anyway.

I don't really see why anyone would think Spotify was shit...the only complaint I could understand is if you had some sort of 3 grand stereo system at home and demanded lossless quality, in which case you'd pay 20 quid a month for Tidal I guess.

Just realized it'll be end of year lists and end of decade lists as well, so much music

The new Aggressive Perfector album is a rather tasty slab of speed metal.

It's been an all round great year for speed metal if you ask me.

Really loved the new Despised Icon album. Only complaint is that it's far too short for my liking, but oh well.

Listening to the new Scarab song, it's ace as expected.

Question...

Has anyone heard anything as exceptional as the 1914, Sulphur Aeon and Slugdge albums from last year? I'm not sure I have yet but the new Cattle Decap and Blood Incantation albums are out soon and I'm expecting big things.

Blood Incantation leaked ages ago.

Newest Teitanblood is better than all of those.

Yes I know. People who pre-ordered the vinyl had access to it weeks ago but I'm a patient soul.

Pretty good but not at that level IMO.

Puppy have randomly released a new mini album. It's good but nothing will beat The goat which they released at the start of the year.

The new Lord Mantis album is rather delicious. I don't even know what genre it falls under but I like it.

Red Death - Sickness Divine is a good thrash album.

It hasn't been mentioned in here but Godeater - All Flesh is Grass is my album of the year, hands down.

Special mention to Alcest, The Great Old Ones, Gold, 1349, The Callous Daoboys, No One Knows What the Dead Think, A Million Dead Birds Laughing, Blu Aus Nord, Warforged and Obsequiae

Blackwater Holylight - Veils of Winter

Spooky Doom Metal with female vocals and hard Rock riffs, bit of a late entry but this could be one of my albums of the year.

That comment can be read very diffferently than what was meant.

Saw them at Desertfest earlier in the year, great band. This is on the list to check out - always get to December with a list of stuff I've missed.

Now enjoying Mute Gods - Atheists and Believers. Pretty good prog rock/metal. Hard to believe one was in Kajagoogoo

The new Elyrean EP/album is a banger, might have to make a last minute addition to end of year list now
