Aye, but wait till someone tells you the chorus is like the Proper Crimbo song by the Bo Selector chap..

Well that's ruined it for me now!

The album is great. A blast of old school speedy thrash.

Just listening to a Pale horse named death for the first time. I always thought they were a deathcore band for some reason. Turns out they sound like Manson singing for type o negative. Good stuff.
(Houston! If you like bloody hammers then gives these a try).

Not too shabby, remember listening to their debut years ago and just dropping off. They're playing The Underworld in November in case your interested

Speaking of Bloody Hammers, the new song is a cracker; might give Savage Messiah a run for AOTY :P

Having not had internet for the last few days I've had a binge on albums I've missed out on.

Xentrix- Fun album, decent riffs but nothing earth shattering. Would recommend though if you like some thrash.

Dorylus- If your a fan of tech death (particularly Bloodshot Dawn) this will be right up your street; good album that I find myself returning to more than I realize.

Vulture- Fun thrash album, not going to change the world but an enjoyable listen

As for the Wildhearts, they're are a good band but have excelled themselves here, usually they have 4-5 good songs per album but this album has so much replay value it's amazing.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Old Star. Do posters on this forum generally dislike Darkthrone or just bored of discussing them? For me it's gone from being a 5/10 album to an 8/10 since release. I didn't like it at all at first, thought it was ponderous and dull. 3 or 4 listens in though, it clicked and now it's sounding better with each listen.

For fans of some blackened speed metal I'm really enjoying the Bewitcher album.

My new year resolution of actively trying to listen to more new music is biting me hard in the ass. The good stuff is coming thick and fast...

I haven't listened to them since the early albums. Nowadays I tend to only listen to bands that I might have a chance to see live one day.

Amon Amarth- Took me awhile to get around to it but it's enjoyable; nothing stand out good like Deceiver.. but a vast improvement on Jomsviking. Does grow on me each listen though, so bonus of added replay value.

Sisters of Suffocation- Blew me away, It's pretty standard overall but in context of the year it's one of the best death metal albums I've come across

You gonna see them on the Carnation tour? I remember you saying you like Carnation too.

I totally get that. Studio bands are a bit annoying because 99.9% of us want to experience metal live and with Darkthrone that just ain't gonna happen unfortunately.

Although through my teens my favorite band was bathory so I didn't always feel that way about studio bands. Obviously there was much less to listen too back then though ha ha.

You were right about this. Rider of Black is such a good song.
