Really enjoying the PL and Shrapnel albums
The new Sorcerer one came out yesterday which is an AOTY contender

The new Witches album is a banger.

In flames have decided it's a good idea to rerecord some clayman tracks

I came here to post the same thing. I heard the re-recording of the title track on Spotify earlier and it sounds fine but I can't imagine it will interest the majority of the current fanbase. When they first put out a video teaser for the 20th anniversary of 'Clayman' I was expecting a live stream of them playing the entire album from the studio. Instead it's a remaster plus four re-recordings and an instrumental. Quite underwhelming.
I wish this band had changed its name in the early naughties to mark the substantial change it sound. The sort of insipid drivel they make now sort of taints the legacy of their classic albums for me. 'Whoracle', 'The Jester Race' and 'Clayman' are three of the greatest Metal albums for me and what they did post-'Clayman' is bitterly disappointing. I only started listening to them in 2005 and was immediately drawn to their pre-'Reroute to Remain' albums rather than their present style.
Perhaps they'll do some 20th anniversary of 'Clayman' shows next year but I won't hold out any hope of them making any music like that again.

Really enjoying that Sodomisery album btw. With a name like that, I expected them to be a lot more brutal but they're actually fairly mid-tempo and melodic. They remind me a lot of Oden era Amarth.

They do have a bloody awful name.

In Flames' re-recording of Clayman is horrible. Just sounds weak and bland plus Anders has used his awful new vocal style on it. He and Bjorn are the only two left from the original album...the band died for me when Jesper left. Pretty much everything they've done since has been arse.

I'm surprised you managed to hold on with In Flames until Jesper left. I started listening to their great albums in 2005 and when I heard what they'd turned into my interest dropped off quickly.

Behold... The Arctopus - Hapeleptic Overtrove is the worst thing I've heard all year and the first album I've had to turn off before finishing. Most of it sounds like someone rattling a fork in a metal cup, dire.

Power Trip have released an official Live album. It's good quality and captures their....erm....power.

New album by London's Zebadiah Crowe is good. A bit different grindcore.

This seems to be a thing a lot of bands have been doing to make some much needed cash during these Corona hit hard times.
Archgoat have released a career spanning one as well. Surprisingly the sound is better than on some of their earlier studio recordings.

Ulthar's new album Providence is a good bit of death metal.
