It's a couple of months old but the Slaughter Messiah album is a belter.

New band Reek's debut (Death is something there between) maybe just an Entombed clone but it's an enjoyable album anyway.

One of the standouts for me at BOA 2019 was Lost In Lavender Town. Well, the guys just dropped their second EP - https://lostinlavendertown.bandcamp.com ... season-two

Currently enjoying:

UK Black metal bands Anti-Inferno debut album Fane. Nice memorable black metal.

Alkymist new album Sanctuary. A sludge doomy type album. Not usually a fan of sludge stuff but this is good.

I'm a bit late with this, because I got the record late, but never mind. The new Nightwish isn't quite working for me, which is a shame. There is some interesting stuff and big ideas, pushing things further than before, but it's leaving me rather cold. The song 'Harvest' is also a total turd, it kills the flow that the record needs so badly. I'll keep listing, but I can't see it growing too much.

I've found two more belters in the past couple of weeks:-

Sölicitör – Spectral Devastation
Balls to the wall speed metal in the style of 80's Priest and Maiden.

Black Curse - Endless Wound
Putrid sounding death metal in the style of stuff like Autopsy.

New Paradise lost album feels like a definite return to the past which is great news to me.

Liking the new Winterfylleth album a great deal

City Burials by Katatonia is another solid album

Pick of the bunch for the last couple of weeks has to go to Old Corpse Road - On Ghastly Shores Lays the Wreckage of our Lore is definitely their best album to date, full of little intricacies that all fit together beautifully. Definitely going to figure highly in my album of the year list.

New Paradise Lost is fantastic. I've enjoyed all their albums to a degree, but this new one has that special feeling that has been lacking since the 90's. A tentative shout for album of the year imo.

New Alestorm sounds good on first listen, Shit Boat (No Fans) is awful, but apart from that it's a good album.

Shit Boat (No Fans) made me laugh on first listen but it loses it appeal after that. It's only a minute or so long though! The rest of the album is typical Alestorm, infectious, catchy songs that are great fun/extremely annoying (delete as applicable, they seem a very divisive band! It's the former for me).

Good week for death metal. Enjoyed the new releases by Centinex, Xibalba and Sodomisery.
