How many gigs did you go to this year?
19

How many/which festivals did you go this year?
5 - Rock Fest Barcelona, Bloodstock, HRH Sleaze, Hard Rock Hell, HRH Vikings

What were your top 3 gigs (including festival sets) of the year?
Kiss @ Manchester Arena
Wildhearts @ Bloodstock
Amon Amarth @ Manchester Apollo

Band/Artist that you didn't expect much from but ended up being really good?
Those Damn Crows @ Hard Rock Hell. Heard a few songs on planet rock and thought they were ok but they absolutely nailed it live.

Band/Artist you thought would be good but disappointed you?
Ghost @ Leeds Arena. Left my full comments in the last gig/next gig thread but sufficed to say I was very underwhelmed. Wasted their opportunity at the big stage and the change in character for the front-man really let the whole thing down.

Didn’t get to many gigs this years. Off the top of my head, only Abigail Williams, BrucexCampbell and Bury Tomorrow all in Newcastle as well as Brutal Assault.

My top 5 sets (in no particular order) were:

Anathema - Brutal Assault
Gutalax - Brutal Assault
Bury Tomorrow - Newcastle
Anthrax - Brutal Assault
Parkway Drive - Brutal Assault

14

How many/which festivals did you go this year?
3 - Eradication Deathfest, Sound City Ipswich, British Summer Time (Bob Dylan + Neil Young)

What were your top 3 gigs (including festival sets) of the year?
The Murder Capital
Tomb Mold/Ritual Necromancy/Of Feather And Bone/Slimelord
Nervo Chaos

Band/Artist that you didn't expect much from but ended up being really good?
Midnight - booked it last minute on a whim but they were awesome as were the supports Aggressive Perfector and Hellripper.

Band/Artist you thought would be good but disappointed you?
I didn't go to any bad gigs per se but the crowd at Twickenham for Metallica were lame and although Ghost were great at Wembley, I still dislike the venue.

18 (if Power Metal Quest Fest Counts). Mainly in London, but also a few in Birmingham and one each in Nottingham and Montreal.

How many/which festivals did you go this year?
2 (if Power Metal Quest Fest counts, the other was Bloodstock)

What were your top 3 gigs (including festival sets) of the year?
Eluveitie at Bloodstock
Symphony X at the Electric Ballroom
Alexisonfire at Alexandra Palace

Band/Artist that you didn't expect much from but ended up being really good?

I enjoyed The Wildhearts and Ross the Boss at Bloodstock despite not being familiar with their music.

Band/Artist you thought would be good but disappointed you?
Scorpions were very underwhelming at Bloodstock and Thrice were a bit bland when I saw them in Birmingham.
