Had an ale called Arse Liquor. Extremely poor ale. Taste was absent, and it had sediment in the bottle too, which I simply do not like to see...ever. Avoid.

Had a porter earlier called Chocolate Penny. That'll be the first porter I haven't really enjoyed. It tasted like a pale ale, which is fine in the rare event that I'm in the mood for one, but today I wasn't.
If it sounds good, listen to it

I had a New Zealand pale ale called Haka recently which was delicious. Had a bramble stout as well which I think was the same one as I tried a few Spoons fests ago, and they seem to have tweaked the recipe and improved it. The Haka was too good to try anything else after that, and then I left for a gig across the road where thankfully they have Kilkenny on tap.

Had a nice stout last night called SOD, nice and creamy/caramel-y and so easily drinkable. Had to move to some paler beers after that keg ran out, one called Veto and another that was from Scotland and had a silly name that was impossible to pronounce. Changed pubs after that and the only ale they have there now is Bass so I figured Staropramen was a better option.

Had 2 new locals today. McHugh's 300 Years from Whitewater brewery was a standard but tasty fruity blonde/pale ale and Smithwicks Pale which was pretty similar, but with all the fruitiness up front and a much more subtle finish.

I'm off on a tour of Bank Top brewery this evening. I imagine I'll report back tomorrow.

Well, I had 4 pints there, (2 of them the same)
Flat Cap, it was't bad by any means, however there was nothing to set it apart from any other bitter.
Sweeney's, quite similar to flat cap, but a more distinctive taste I felt.
Santa Claws, a bit fruitier as you might expect a Christmas ale to be, I liked this one best and had a second. However both times I found the first half easy to drink but seemed to take forever with the second half. All I could think was cause I was holding the glass continuously I warmed it up too much, and it tastes better cold.

I was hoping they'd have Port O' Call on, but they didn't sadly.

I had some more of that marks and sparks Welsh honey bitter last night for St. Dwynwen's day, along with some McEwan's export for the Burns night side of things. McEwan's export is the most decent ale i've ever bought in a can.

McEwans on draught would be superb, but even better would be a decent, and I MEAN that, DECENT lager - not the Carlsberg or the waste of water that is Carling, Fosters - ANYTHING thats a lager and brewed in the UK, forget it!! The QUALITY of UK manufactured lager is an utter scandal!!

Alas, no amount of nostalgia could save either beer from tasting a bit too bland and overly smooth. Although perhaps that'd make them more appealing on a hot summer day, when I wouldn't want my typical heavy stouts and dark ales.

That's just reminded me of the Red Rock Cider adverts from way back.

Going to the SIBA Champions beer festival today. I just hope there's some beer left after last night.

Hilden Twisted Hop. Better than their last IPA, and fairly good as far as those go, but I think it was a bit dumb using that name when there's already a brewery of the same name in New Zealand who a beer called Twisted Hop also.

Oxfordshire 2012 was decent but unmemorable

Batemans Hooker was great though, very individual citrussy and biscuity pale ale and a big whack of cherries off it too.

Well it's not ale but this is the only booze thread. Finally tried some of my Buckfast, and I think it's actually quite nice :P.
Actually I have had an ale recently, drank my "Raging bitch" and that was also really nice, I guessed it would be decent due to being an IPA but I only bought because of the name xD
