Maybe we would have...Chelsea faked it past Barca and Bayern i imagine their 9-0-1 formation may work for England haha. But no there'd be no reason to think we'd win that final.

I played enough games of Pin the Blame on the Hodgson while he was at Liverpool to know when he's at fault or not. Sure, he got a couple of things wrong (knackering an obviously non-match fit Rooney by keeping him on for nearly the whole game for one), but he was given three weeks to sort things out and his hand was forced when the likes of Lampard and Barry ended up being unable to go.
Tactically, we were doing okay. Not great, but playing defensively and grinding out draws worked well enough for Greece in '04 so why not us? It's only unfortunate that we think our national pastime is missing penalties.
