John Ringo - There will be dragons.

Future utopia collapses and survivors find themselves trying to cope with a level of technology that's gone back to Early Medieval. Rampaging marauders not helping matters so one bright spark decides to resurrect the Roman Legion as a defence force.
Not bad.

Recently finished "The Ruins" really grim tale of survival in pretty fucked up conditions, it does require you to disengage brain for certain plot twists but overall a pretty good read.

Then I've been reading "Greetings in Jeus Name" about the Nigerian 419 scammers and the people that wind them up in amazingly cruel ways!

Just picked up "Skeleton Crew" Steven King, Not a fan of King but this sounds like it has a few good short stories eapecially The Jaunt which sounds proper mental.

randomly rereading terry pratchett as usual. Whole of Maskerade yesterday, and a bit of the last continent today. Picked up red mars and blue mars today, read a little bit of red mars a while ago, then lost the book ^^.

Reading Angel's Flight, crime mystery that's boring as hell. It's all about racism and America and if I wanted that, you know... I'd just watch Crash.

Before that I read The Last Time They Met - sort of, poor, with an alleged 'shocking' ending, but my friend had already told me the ending was not what you'd expect, so I expected the unexpected and got it right. Thus spoiling the twist.

Currently on the Brothers Karamazov - Dostoyevsky. Decided to give old Fyodor a chance, and he's got a particularly engaging style for one of the classic authors, so it was a good decision on my part :D

Just read a book called 'vodka' by Boris Starling, absolute beast of a book both physically and metaphorically!! Definately reccomend it, its about the privatisation of a Russian vodka distillary just after the breakup of communism - yer, that does make it sound boring as hell...but its really not!! 'cos a load of child murders, gang crime and scheming politics are involved! Read it!

Just finished a book called 'Helmet of Horror' by a russian guy, Victor Pelevin. Strange book, I think I'm gonna have to go back and read it again to understand what was going on...the whole book is basically a chat room log about a group of people locked in seperate rooms, being haunted by a 'minotaur' :?

Just started 'The Yes Man' by Danny Wallace and bought today 'Dark River' by John Twelve Hawks (The first part 'The Traveller' was awesome), 'The Last Testament' by Sam Bourne and 'Killing Floor' by Lee Child. Should be a few weeks worth of reading there :)

Just started Hood by Stephen Lawhead. Looks it does for Robin Hood what his Pendragon Cycle did for King Arthur. Being a Nottinghamian, I naturally have to read it.
Oh, hi. I'm not Hollywood Steve. You caught me typing a new signature. This is the story of Kenny Loggins writing 'Footloose'.

Finished Sarah Walters "Affinity". Twist at the end as expected but I did not like it. I prefer happy endings. Still a good book though.

Tipping the velvet next!
