im the opposite, i hate wearing a suit and am very unlikely to ever go into a field of work which would require it i find them incredibly uncomfortable, without exception

I have to confess to being the complete opposite. I utterly hate wearing shirts or poloshirts, and cannot explain why. I'll wear them if it's correct for the event, but I'd rather avoid where at all possible!

Also, when I enter a room full of dicks in suits, I can normally spot the ones who are complete bullshit artists trying to brown nose their way into someone, or who are otherwise generally completely incompetent at what they do.

Especially when they claim to work in the same field as I do.

Plus, not wearing a suit makes me look like I have less money (which I don't, I just find better ways to spend it), so I'm less likely to get pounced on by vendor sharks.

Hint: at an IT conference, find the delegates in jeans and t-shirts. Guaranteed they know what they're talking about.

Complete opposite to the financial industry

I can vaguely relate in terms of working with clients within design/promotion and the managers that appear at our bar with a lass on each arm flaunting uber expensive cars and suits. The suit and attitude often makes up for a lack of knowledge/charisma and ive taken far more from the people who feel comfortable enough in what they do to not have to impress in any other way. Theyre always far more down to earth and willing to give you their time. I do like wearing smart clothes though
