while i agree and look forward to what they decide to do next whether it's with Jeremy, Matt or both, i cant help but be a little bemused at the fact the main focus of the second half of the film was him catching a cold. but still, a great film with plenty of potential.

I bought Man With The Iron Fists, this film is completely bonkers, yet awesome, acting isn't amazing, but it's so OTT and obviously the director loves the old 70s martial arts films, watch it, tear it to shreds, but just see it as a bit of fun :P

I'm in.
It looks like it could be a sequel to this.

Which was (low budget) awesome by the way.

If it's made by Arrowstorm entertainment, they have another film coming out in the Dungeons and Dragons style that looks absolutely brilliant this year too

Good God that looks terrible  It looks more like an underfunded TV series than a film, even a straight to DVD one. There was a time I'd watch shit like this for giggles but nowadays, I dunno...life's too short!

COFFIN BABY

It's been about eight years since I saw Tobe Hooper's remake of The Toolbox Murders, and I don't really remember that much about it. I remember Angela Bettis, Drusilla from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Sheri Moon Zombie were in it, and that the maniac was a creepy looking fella with lots of skin and teeth for a face. Oh, and there was something about runes.

Anyway, it turns out Coffin Baby is the sequel.

It also turns out that it's a bit crap.

The killer from the first film (the titular Coffin Baby) kidnaps a girl and keeps her alive, tormenting her by mutilating, torturing and killing lots of people in front of her.
And by letting her watch TV and giving her popcorn.
There's a back story of course - one about a three-way relationship and a dead baby to be exact - and the film basically follows Coffin Baby's captive and her descent into madness as she talks to people who aren't there (Bruce Dern) and tries to rescue her dead daughter from the nutter with the nail gun.

Somewhere in Coffin Baby there's a really good film trying to get out, but as it stands, a severely misplaced over-confidence in the director's own limited abilities hinders it at every turn. From the arty/blindingly awful grainy black and white filters and the poor framing of every shot to the persistent use of extreme close-ups for virtually every conversation during the first hour. Not to mention the random slipping in of some recognisable actors (Brian Krause, Dern, and Ethan Phillips) just because the director has obviously been able to call in some favours.

Still, there are graphic eviscerations, amputations and general bits and pieces being pulled out of people all over the place (in fact, there are probably too many as by the end desensitization has crept in), and there's quite a nasty sliced eyeball scene near the beginning.
Yet none of these mutilations compare to the horror that masquerades as a script and the painful acting, largely down to the detective at the beginning and Charmed's Brian Krause. Utterly f**king terrible. He was more believable in Camel Spiders. I defy anyone not to watch the interrogation scene without bursting out laughing after just a couple of minutes.

They didn't nail it.

Saw Good Vibrations last night after Matty shared it the other week. I was a little dismayed to see the only place that seems to be showing it in the North West was the Corner House in manchester, downstairs in screen 3. Can't have been more than 50 seats. It wasn't only a little sad that it didn't get better, but also kind of puzzling given it seems to be being distributed by Universal, and has the backing of the BBC. You'd have thought it would at least get an evening showing in one of the bigger Odeon's or Cineworlds.
I really enjoyed the film. The only minor issue was it dropped of the pacing a little 3/4 of the way through but it's kind of unnavoidable given the nature of the story, that's where things stop building towards something and he's no longer on the way up, and things start to go wrong. It's hard to maintain an energy and momentum when things stop going right. So I can't hold it against it too much. It seemed a nice balance of comedy but of also seriousness too, not to make light of the situation.
Well worth seeing if you get chance, but if the rest of the country is like it is up here, you'll have a job getting to a showing.

Watched a French film called Untouchables last night, really enjoyed it. Based (loosely I believe) on a true story, it's about a paraplegic who employs a ne'er do well to be his carer. A quite touching and, at times, really laugh out loud funny movie.
