I was dead set against kindles and the like when they came out but after accepting one as a gift I`ve found I prefer it to the real thing. It`s so much more comfortable to hold ( and can leave one hand free for a cup of tea! ) and I no longer have to go hunting for a dictionary every time I get stumped by a word I`ve never heard of before.

Yep, I've gone e-book now to the point of disposing of 90% of my paper collection. I refuse to use a Kindle, but I doubt I'll ever go back to paper. Unless both my Sony Reader or phone are flat.

I'm working my way through the Cally series atm. Once you're through the Ringo-wank, his books are all right.

Got round to buying myself Eragon, Brisingr (Hardback), The Historian, The Swan Thieves and The Book Thief (Hardback) today. With so much music listening/production going on the past 2 years I've been somewhat neglectful towards my literate side.

I am enjoying this book immensely at the moment. Up to now his books have mostly been setup-setup-setup-MAYHEM with a generous helping of sardonic humour and sheer fucking awesome.

"Yellow Eyes" starts the mayhem early then suddenly dives into political chicanery. I'm confidently expecting more mayhem later on. Also, anything that involves a giant, holographic goddess lobbing thunderbolts at alien battleships to the strains of "O Fortuna" is easily worth my time.

After this I've got...dundunDUUN..."Twilight" to read.

Just started: Twilight.
So far it's not as bad as I was expecting but I am only a few chapters in.

Finished The Time Traveller's Wife the other night and cried like a little girl which is quite rare for me.

Next up: Middlemarch. I have no idea what its about and i've not read any George Eliot before so this will be quite an adventure.

I'm near the end of A Very Private Gentleman by Martin Booth - its been filmed and The American with George Clooney and I wanted to finish it before the DVD came out. Be interesting to see whet they do with it as not much actually happens.

Last book I finished was Rain Gods by James lee Burke - it would appeal to fans of No Country For Old Men, and is another book that would make a decent film (the main role has Tommy Lee Jones all over it), but after the mess they made of In The Electric Mist, I hope they leave all of JLB's books alone.

I'm coming over all sentimental and epiphany-ish about the Wheel of Time. I apologise, Mr Jordan (RIP), I get it now.

And I *still* want to be Cadsuane :D

I bawled at the end of that book, even though I'd already guessed what would happen.

I'm really bloody enjoying Monsoon, which was a pleasant surprise as I assumed that even if it was good, I'd think it was shit as I started reading it the day after I'd finished Robin Hobb

Started (and finished) both Child 42 and The Secret Speach by Tom Rob Smith in the last week. Both great books. Sadly all the other things I was intending to do this week still remain undone!

Last two books I read were both by Richard Laymon and neither were any good.
Blood Games would have been good if it had been two hundred pages shorter and Resurrection Dreams was average at best. Not a bad story but turned rather stupid at the end.

I'm more or less at the end of Monsoon. Thoroughly enjoyed it, even though it had a lot to live up to (Being the book that followed the Hobb)
Book 2 of the Kingkiller Chronicles came through the post yesterday; really enjoyed book one (The Name of the Wind) so I'm really looking forward to this one.

Just finished the new Raymond E Feist book. It sets things up quite nicely for the next 2 but (mild spoiler)

I'm not sure I approve of the way he brought 2 old characters back

This should make a few people especially Littlemissmetal happy. The new Song Of Fire And Ice book has an actual release date July 12th :D
