Public Enemies was my first Michael Mann film but I didn't think it lived up to the hype that Empire gave it. Sure, it was a pretty decent film by way of narrative and action sequences, but the overall look of it just felt so rushed and sloppy. I expected so much more :(

I thought it was pretty good.

The friend I went with hated it. He said he didn't understand any of the first hour. It was a 78 minute film.
All right, so I MADE a mistake! ONE MISTAKE!

Saw 'This Is It' last night.

I know many peoples views on Jacko are pretty negative...but I'm gonna just come out and say that it was really good.

Focusing on nothing but the show, it's all filmed pre-death so no crying and sycophantic ramblings. Filmed from a few cameras over a few different rehearsal sessions, it shows Michael as the perfectionist and generally musical genius that he was. While he looks severly underweight and a bit frail, when it comes to the performing he seems as fit as he could possibly be. While not the 'full' rehearsals we do get a demonstration of the stage setup and props and an idea of what it would have been like.

I came away thinking that, had the O2 shows gone ahead, This Is It would have been THE BEST live show ever. While many see it as a cash cow designed for one thing only, I think it's a fitting, and subtle tribute to a legend.

Bought it today - £13.71. High price but I know it's worth it for the film alone! One of the year's best I reckon.

Just got in from seeing Saw VI. Miles better than Saw V and arguably IV. Continues the story on well and doesn't fuck about with the timeline too much. Though, there were a few points where they might as well have had someone pointing at stuff going "LOOK! SEE? REMEMBER THAT FROM NUMBER 3???"
But to be honest, it's a good film. I will be buying the DVD for the sake of it being good, not just to complete my series..

7/10
