Roadhouse is brilliant. Swayze's best film, bar none.

Awesome.

Seriously contemplating buying the DVD (I watched it on Sky+). Seems like the kinda movie me and my mates would enjoy loads more when drunk..

Update on my watching of all the Oscar nominated films

Seen: Avatar (not an oscar-winnter imo. shouldn't have been nominated)
District 9 (awesome but not gonna win, it's too sci fi)
An Education (my personal favourite so far, very good and should win)
Inglourious Basterds (loved it, but not gonna win)
Up (great and especially good considering it's a kids film but not best film, best animated it should win easily)
Up In the Air (second favourite, could win but after watching didn't leave so much of an impact as others)

Going to see Precious next week, and A Single Man tonight (Colin Firth's got a nom for best actor, but it's not up for best film which was unexpected considering some of the stuff that was nominated.)

Despite being a dedicated SAW fan, I approve of that image.
Mostly because of the GWAR hoodie :D

I don't get the hate for the two AvP films. It's not like they set out be genre defining classics or anything, they were just excuses to see the two species kicking the arses off each other. And that's what both films delivered, who gives a fuck if there was no story or if the acting was a bit shit? It had Aliens getting lairy with Predators and lots of dopey humans getting in the way.

Strictly speaking, no, he isn't. Not as a director anyway. He's down as co-producer/co-writer because the story is taken from a script he wrote back in the early nineties. The film was never made though because of the poor box office returns for Predator 2.
It's being directed by Nimród Antal, the guy who did Vacancy.

yes and no. it was originally the script he pitched to be Predator 2, but much like Frank Millers Robocop 2, they decided against it and pinched some ideas from it and made Predator 2. Predators will basically ignore Predator 2 and the AvP films and act as a direct sequel to the first film. you can find most of the info here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Predators_%28film%29 . should be quite considering some of the casting although im curious if Ahhhhnold will make a guest appearence to make it consistant as his character is scripted to be in it, maybe a voice part.

ive underlined why. they pretty much ignored the mythology from the Alien films and just made them bad b-movies. the second one was a lot better than the first but the actual stories shouldnt have played out like that. the original books/comics/games didnt have all 3 races meeting until the future which is where the films should have been set. not present day in some hick town where bubba thinks he can shotgun an alien in the face. they pretty much ruined the original story lines set out for the franchise.
