I actually now understand the complaints of those missing the V10 roar of the old F1 cars. The noise is part of the experience.

Anyone else find it odd that Rosberg is being treated like a complete villain for a racing incident? In Bahrain Hamilton completely cut him up aggressively and Rosberg slammed on the brakes to avoid a collision. This time Hamilton did it he chose not to seriously compromise his race (considering the other cars behind) and there was contact which could have easily gone either way. Hamilton could have left space but chose to go onto what was clearly the racing line for Rosberg, and if the contact was any worse it could've taken a larger chunk of his front wing off, ruining his own race/

Yes, there are huge double standards here. Nico has been the nice guy all season and has lost out to Hamilton being the arsehole. Now he decides to stand up for himself and not let Hamilton push him around all the time he's getting flak for it. Don't get me wrong, the move was Rosberg's fault in Spa and Hamilton was largely innocent (he could have chosen to leave room, but you probably wouldn't expect him to unless Rosberg had been closer). But the amount of criticism he's receiving for it? Seems out of proportion to me.

It makes good drama and gets people talking about the sport. People will get over it by the end of the season and it won't mar Nico's championship win, if it should come.

Yeah, that was the meaning behind my rambling essentially, just needed to reference earlier in the season to back it up

If you want some real ROS hating and HAM loving, have a peek at the comments on the Petronas FB page: https://www.facebook.com/MercedesAMGF1?ref=stream

It's on par with reading the bloodstock fb page after Machine Head were announced and everyone who didn't like them was an "elitist"

I'm at Off The Tracks festival, which is at Donington campsite, and can hear tyres squealing and lots of engine noise. Turns out it's the National Kit Car show and the Classic Sports Car event at the race track. It's the final round of the British Superbikes next week too. Really tempted to go...

Just ordered tickets to see BTCC at Silverstone in 3 weeks.

We kinda almost went this weekend down to Rockingham, but instead are enjoying doing absolutely not much instead, and watching it on ITV4.

Did that particularly damage you in any way?

That particular run, no. It's meant to look like that. The next run, though, trashed my back when the tyres shook. When I came to get out of the car, it felt like someone had been punching me in the kidneys for half an hour. I still can't walk properly (although it's getting better and I'm mostly mobile today).

Another good day at Buxton for the Rebels World Wide Rebellion, the rebels are always good to watch. Good racing from the F2's, V8 Hot stoxs and 1300 stock saloons.

Pretty awesome British Touring Car Championship meet at Silverstone this weekend, though we missed a nasty roll on the other end of the circuit - TV footage of it shows how light yet rigid these NGTC cars are!

Driver (Rob Collard) seemed to hold himself together will throughout the roll though:

I'm kind of surprised he hung on to the steering wheel. In a crash like that, you're better off letting go. It's too easy to break a wrist if a wheel hits the ground hard and wrenches the steering wheel out of your hands. Still, it's hard to comment without having done it (fortunately) and the roll was at least relatively sedate.

FWIW, someone I race with had a nasty crash a year ago this weekend. He's OK now, but it was a pretty major accident:
