The guy never replied even though I followed it up with an apology for calling him Felixstowe. Nevermind

Think we've found someone who we'll offer it to tomorrow anyway, hoping he'll take it.

They should charge the ones that don't turn up. It's worth a quid not to have to watch kids in a nativity play.

Some people really need to get a life.

Virtually EVERYTHING was once a lifeform fuckwits. That includes the plastic in your computer or phone that you are using to access the internet and the electricity that powers it.

Personally I agree with what some have said, if we're going to have animal products in it then why not have bacon in it? Everything's better with bacon

It's just that there are far more important things to worry about than getting a bee in your bonnet that something may have a tiny bit of animal by product in it.

Even Jews aren't that bothered. It just seems to be people with too much time on their hands.

Jewish leaders, whose religion also embraces several restrictions on the use of animal products, are less concerned about the new banknotes.
A spokesman for the Board of Deputies of British Jews, Simon Round, told the BBC: "The five pound notes wouldn't cause any problem to Jews unless they try to eat them.

But there is already a few million notes in circulation and I doubt they'll be withdrawn.

So they are going to sit there checking serial numbers to see if a note may or may not have been near a tiny bit of animal produce? What if they have touched another note whilst crammed in my pigskin wallet?

As I said, some people have far too much time on their hands.

New fiver: Bank of England looking to make note meat-free - BBC News
The maker of the new fiver says it is working on "potential solutions" to the issue of animal fat.

1. slap some sense into them
2. tell them there are bigger problems in the world
3. perhaps remind them money is not something you should try to eat
4. remind them that £5 notes are not the only currency available, ask for coins or an old style fiver
5. use a credit/debit card instead

Think I need to apply for a job at the BoE

Is the polymer that the new fivers made from not oil based? As in, petrochemical oil? Because once upon a time, that oil was animals too. Albeit zooplankton, but still - sea creatures.
