The ending is class.
I admire Robert Llewellyn. I don't agree with him on this occasion though.

In a business though, unless your IM keeps constant saved records, then as far as I am concerned, they are pointless. Emails are a way to cover your arse as it keeps a record of what has been said and stops pricks from being able to deny agreeing to something or going back on their dicisions.

Fb keeps permanent record, as does MSN, don't know about others though

Re: What made you Lol Today?
Lync is the ideal middle ground. It's an IM client (next generation of Microsoft Office Communicator), and all your conversations are archived in Exchange so you can search them through Outlook. The coolest thing about Lync is that integrates into an VoIP system, complete with tying into a PBX telephony system.
Ring up the office number, rings on Lync. Ask to put be put through to a person, you get directed to their Lync if they're online, and you talk to them as if it were Skype. If there's no answer they get sent an email saying missed call from xxx-yyyy. If you phone up with your mobile and that numbers registered on your Lync account then it comes up on their Lync account as you calling via Lync, via your mobile! Fucking awesome.
Email isn't going to die any time soon. I work in the collaboration and portals industry and I can say that with a lot of confidence.

Not with Outlook or any other decent client. Majority of business users don't use webmail.

Yes.
And that's really how developers fucking talk, our office (of only four developers + one non-developing bod who apparently tests things) is pretty much people swearing at their computers all day.
Did like "Using fucking descriptive variable names is way more important than saving a few fucking characters."... if only cause I once worked with some old code where there were tonnes of classes called PIULLHKICH and PIULLTACCK and things like that. It took ages for anyone to work out what the hell they meant.
