This whole Jimmy Saville thing. I'm genuinely confused as to why it's in the news all of a sudden? I swear every knew he was a bacon bonce years ago, how come people are seemingly only realising it now?

I've seen worse jobs. Such as being the guy who has the STOP/GO sign at road works or standing on the corner of a street dressed in a pizza box.

I would also do it!

I would rather work as a scarecrow than dress as a pizza box or hold one of those "golf sale"/Subway signs. However, the STOP/GO thing would give me some power to abuse - mua-ha-ha-ha-haaaa! It would be amazing doing it at Chipping Norton and trolling Jeremy Clarkson and Co.

I've often thought about dressing up as a Ninja Turtle and getting three mates to do the same, then bundling one of those pizza box dudes into a van and driving off at speed.

Yeah every article about it now is all "he said gary glitter was a hero for bucking kids in an interview years ago" or something along those lines. You wonder why they didn't kick up a fuss then?

There was some Scottish entrepreneur woman on the sofa on Sky News one morning talking about it when it all came out and she said "why now? What's it going to achieve? He's dead so it isn't like he can face trial for what he has done so why didn't they come forward when he was still alive so he could face justice for it?"

She had a point really, granted probably not a popular view but no one really gains anything from revealing it now because he cannot stand trial and face punishment.

The media are gaining quite a lot from revealing it now. This sort of story sells a lot of tabloid newspapers, for example.

On the positive side, it must be cathartic for the victims to be able to speak about something that they'd probably suffered in silence with for a long time. They might be able to get some sort of closure.

...but then again, while the abuse seems to be widespread, there might be some people lying about having been abused to get their 15 minutes of fame and possibly a cheque for an interview in the tabloids.
