We keep getting calls on the landline, when we answer, there's nobody there and eventually it hangs up. When we dial 1471, it says number withheld.
I've been told (a while ago, can't remember who said it or their source) that these kinds of calls could be linked to burglaries - calling to try and find a pattern in times you are and aren't home. Doesn't help that our next-door neighbours have been robbed twice in the past 10yrs.

Sounds about right from Walsall.

Mind, I've never been there but the name has that 'dickhead northern town' to it. Like Wolverhampton or Scunthorpe.

Granted that given your location 90% of the UK is up north, but even so Wolverhampton and Walsall just aren't northern towns :P

Watford town and not Watford gap? You'd be forgiven with the first one, given how London treats the rest of the country.

To me, there's a line that's at roughly the level of the north Wales coast. Chester for example is one of the southernmost northern towns (or cities).

North to me is everything beyond Stoke and Nottingham.

I know this cuts off large parts of Derbyshire and Notts but there's bugger all there anyway.

Hull city centre and Preston city centre are bang on level with each other we discovered when colleagues from both places were trying to decide who was the Northerner and who was the Southern poof. Runcorn is quite a bit further South than Preston! (Shitter too)

:ugh: With 3 'grown up' children and having just turned 50 recently what s freaking me out is the fact that my wife is almost 3 weeks late. I had the snip 20 years ago. Same thing happened to friends of ours last year and she lost 'the baby' after 12 weeks.....
