Flying to and from Bloodstock..

Flying doesn't scare me as a whole but last time I flew I got an extremely painful headache on the descent, lasted about 5 mins and it was almost unbearable.

Did some research, apparently it's fairly common, especially for those who have sinus problems or lung diseases like asthma and those who smoke. Sleep deprivation doesn't help either.

Anyone else had this and know of some way to relieve/prevent the pain? It's not going to stop me from flying but I'm not really looking forward to it..

Airwaves chewing gum when the pilot begins the descent. Failing that take some cold medicine an hour before you're due to land, that'll clear your sinuses and should reduce any pain. Don't get drunk, they may not let you fly back....

As long as you aren't a loud, gobby English prick then it's not a problem.

Has this worked for you in the past? I might try this on the way over but if that fails I'll just stay drunk from Bloodstock on the flight back :P

Me and my sister are going over to Kosovo in a few days time to see our paternal family.

I'm getting extremely worried about the journey there for a number of reasons.

First of all, my passport is in tatters, and from personal experience border control in the Balkans aren't the least bellendish people in the world.

Secondly is something that can't actually be helped but is seriously starting to freak me out. Me and my sister have different surnames, neither of which are our father's (she uses our stepdad's name, I use our mum's maiden name). I have an Albanian middle name, but she has no Albanian in her name at all. And there's a six-year age difference between us. And I can speak Albanian (albeit just enough to get by, if that) and she doesn't know a word of it. Given the reputation Albanians have nowadays of trafficking young people (we're flying to Skopje as well, so the people there probably won't be biased towards us like the people at Prishtina would), I just know the sirens are going to go off in the border police's heads within seconds...

Exact same in my family, but with a dash of more confusion:

My eldest brother has our paternal father's name, my elder brother has my mum's maiden name, I have my stepfather's name. I was born, and have on my birth certificate, my paternal father's name, was known with my mum's surname until the age of 8 (divorce went through shortly after I was born), then my mum remarried and I took my stepdad's name.

Fucking hell it was fun getting a driving licence when I was 17 :|

I believe it's kicking off again in Kosovo again aswell. Quite a bit of sabre rattling and burning down of border points. Good luck and have a safe journey.

Yeah, that's all in the north though, we'll be avoiding those parts. I can't see anything happening in Prishtina, there's only about a hundred or so Serbs left there now and most of them are either pro-independence or completely apathetic. I've been there in much worse times before when I was much younger anyway :)
