Interestingly, everyone over here calls it a cowboy hat, but I went to Texas last year and they were all looking at me trying to work out what sort of hat it was. It's very definitely not a cowboy hat. The shape of the top is very different.

I have that hat, and a bushtucker hat...they're virtually the same apart from the wire rim in that one!

When I used to go to comedy clubs a lot, Jimmy Carr was quite often mid-card or compère. I always thought of him as good for those slots but not funny enough to headline. His style seems to suit TV quite well though.
