Yes really, but then again most ways of dying are painful.
Well not if you die in your sleep or if you're unconcious at the time.

Probably has something to do with the smoke taking out your brain before the fire actually starts to burn you. I'm pretty sure someone actually burning you would hurt quite a bit.

More often than not, in normal house fires, the smoke kills first.

If you're burned at the stake a la witches, you're still conscious when your eyeballs melt. :|

If you were asleep yeah, some nasty chemicals would knock you out before you knew what was happening.

Again, depends on how fast tents burn. We did have an expert on this...
Who the hell reads anything in sigs these days, unless it's an animated gif?
