Looking up failed storylines from the Attitude Era, anyone else remember when Mideon would run through the crowd wearing just a thong and a bumbag for a few weeks? Vince Russo at his finest!

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Reminds me of the story when Paul Heyman called him in 2000.
"How would you like to be a part owner of ECW?"
"How much do you need?"
"A million dollars."
"For how much equity?"
"20%."
"Fuck off Paul, you're company's not worth 5 million!"

Anyone else see the Daily Mirror writing kayfabe articles about Lionheart's rematch with AJ Styles? Embarrassing shite altogether.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I've thought of a really good gimmick for (Adrian) Neville that they could have used. They could have hired Ross Noble to be his alter-ego and have him transform into Neville when he drinks Newcastle Brown Ale.
All right, so I MADE a mistake! ONE MISTAKE!
Can't a man start over?! Do I have to keep on PAYING?! HUH?!
Maybe I should make another mistake! ...maybe TWO more!

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I may be in the minority here but I am really not sold on Kevin Owens yet. He's alright, but there are definitely better wrestlers in NXT right now. I find his promos to mostly be the same - boring. He was on commentary this week and was nothing but a pain in the ass, he added nothing and actually took away from the match, he answered nothing and instead whenever he was asked for input told the announcers to call the match, then complained they weren't talking about him, then when they did he told them to call the match. Why does he have the title? I can only assume its because zayn, balor and itami are main roster bound fairly soon because they're all better than him.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Payback was excellent. I nearly didn't bother watching live but I'm glad I did.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
After missing everything since after the post-Mania RAW I only watched the main event of Payback, which was great from a storytelling perspective. Going to the outside straight away was fine as it made sense, but too much of it was just a one on one with the other two guys on the outside which is the thing I hate most in multi-man matches. I also think Randy fluffed the sell on the pedigree a little bit so the finish was a bit anti-climactic but that's a minor issue. A **** match easily.
Thoughts on RAW thus far. Really really surprisingly good match between heel Sheamus and face Ryback. Both men suit these roles better than the reverse, good injury angle, a few good spots and transitions. Dare I say it I actually am starting to like Ryback.
The backstage segment after was great. Rollins is really finding himself as a heel champ. It's too easy to fall into that suit-wearing title on the shoulder look that everyone copies from Jericho (Miz, Swagger etc.) but he puts his own spin on it. The champagne was a great prop and J&J help a lot too. Ambrose made that scene though with his crazy "I'll give you a rematch" logic and "what happened to you Kane? You used to be cool" comments. Great booking for him. No wonder he's more over now than either Orton or Reigns.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Bo Dallas' new heel persona feuding with Neville. I like this. I think it has potential to be like Bob Backlund circa 93/94, that really disturbed, delusional heel who thinks he's the world's biggest babyface. They could even bring back Dr. Shelby to do some segments with him.
Skipping this Rusev segment. Not interested in his thing with Lana but at least they have something for him now that he's finished being fed to Cena. I doubt he'll win the IC belt at the chamber but he'd benefit most from the win.
Good match as always between Ambrose and Wyatt but I am a little concerned Ambrose is overusing The Nigel a little bit. Trying it early in a match, getting cutoff and then hitting it later is great, but he doesn't always pick the best moment to hit it the second time round like McGuinness used to or Kyle O'Reilly does.
Tag match was nothing special. Cesaro and Kidd have been together a while now so I'm really disappointed by their lack of cool tag spots considering how innovative Cesaro was in The Kings Of Wrestling. Still struggling to see the point in The New Day as well. Nattie's cleavage was the best thing about this match. I like the idea of the tag team elimination chamber, but when did the Prime Time Players get back together? Smells of pure backtracking because they split them up over nothing then realised they had even less to do with them as singles guys. A cool match idea that will be wasted on mediocre teams with no clear booking strategy. Cesaro is too talented for this shit.
Then the bit I was watched this show just to see. Kevin Owens, you beautiful man. You had me at "Hello John." He is the most unlikely looking main roster talent ever but as soon as he opened his mouth he sounded like he belongs. Great scripting and booking with the "I've been doing this longer than you" and "we'll fight on my terms", but Kevin has such personality in his delivery and gestures that it wouldn't have worked as well without him. Post-Elimination Chamber he could well be the #2 heel in the whole company. I also really like Cena in this mid-card role treating the US title like a TV title of old and putting over NXT guys. A bit of acknowledgment of Owens' Canadian nationality could've made the disrespecting of the title more meaningful though.
The show naturally went downhill from there. Ziggler jobbing out Stardust. Both guys deserve way way better. Him and Lana could be a good fit though, they have a kinda HBK/Sensational Sherri dynamic. Only without the whole implied domestic violence but it's totally cool because she likes it thing.
Harper and Rowan back together again, but not in the tag team chamber match? Such a shame as they were both being booked well as singles wrestlers, unlike the Prime Time Players. Job match again, fastforwarded through this.
The final in ring segment was decent, but needed to be more over the top. Like balloons, more fake crying and stuff. I really wanted Mercury to say "I love you boss!" or something. The ending with Ambrose was great though. Quite possibly the best tweener in the business since Austin was at his peak.
So yeah, overall I've got much more positive to say about the product at the moment than negatives. Mostly good stuff all round.
