Re: The Wrestling Thread
I still want to believe this is just his hand being forced by WWE who don't want to take the risk of him getting permanently brain damaged or crippled in their ring but won't let him out of his contract to go wrestle anywhere else either.
Maybe this most recent test convincing him to retire is true and I feel bad for doubting him, but why would he have asked for his release if it is? It still smells like Vince still wanting to make money off what he considers his property even though he can't be used in the ring, and not wanting anyone else to become a legit competitor to his business by giving Bryan somewhere he can wrestle with a schedule and a style/environment less likely to re-injure him.
Either way if they unfreeze Bryan's contract now then he'll have 3 years of doing whatever non-wrestling stuff WWE want him to do. I won't give up hope until then that he might go back to wrestling for ROH and NJPW/NOAH.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
He's done. From all reports it sounds like the final tests her went for were much more in depth and showed damage on the brain, so he's had to admit defeat. It's really sad, but I'm also happy that he's managed to retire now having done virtually everything and now can have a long and happy retirement.
I've seen some narrow minded folk moan that Bryan was the last thing keeping them interested in WWE as a whole. This is silly. Whilst storylines themselves are cookie cutter, and they insist of foisting Roman's Reign upon us, the talent on the roster and general in-ring quality is as high as it's ever been. Add to that that they signed the best wrestler in the world today (Nakamura) for NXT and there's always something to look forward to.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I look forward to NXT, and that pre-Wrestlemania show is going to be sick with Zayn/Nakamura, but the main show just isn't that interesting right now.
The in-ring quality is decent, but if I want good wrestling I can just go watch ROH or PWG or something. I watched WWE for the storylines that I can actually get invested in. When your main story is about an underdog that is completely unbelievable as an underdog, and there ain't much else going on (Other than the great R-Truth/Goldust skits), I'm not too invested. I mainly just read the post-show reactions on reddit and that these days.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Yeah I'm actually digging Goldust and R Truth too, makes me wonder why they haven't put them together before. Although Maffew from Botchamania made a good point that last time Goldust had a stammer it's when he teamed with Booker T so maybe he's allergic to black people.

I occasionally read the Impact results and if there's a match between 2 guys I like that goes over 12 minutes I'll give it a watch.

Anyone been to an ICW show? They're in Cardiff end of the month but I dunno if it's worth going to just sing Like a Prayer

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I went in Dublin and it was fucking great. Wish I'd been in Belfast the night before to see Big Damo win the world title in his hometown but it clashed with a gig. They sold out the venue up there so the atmosphere would've been better but even with 400 in Dublin it was fantastic. Jackie Polo vs Kenny Williams was just wall to wall duelling chants and that along with Drew Galloway vs Noam Dar were really solid matches too. Damo vs Wolfgang main event was a mad brawl that went behind the bar and everything.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Fucking fantastic live show.
Crowd was loud as fuck and ready to chant, the boys were on points, and I got to talk to Joe Coffey for a bit and tell him how much I appreciated his chain wrestling.
Seriously though, if ICW is near you, go see it. Fucking fantastic.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I got rid of my spotify subscription for a free months worth of WWE network. Will be watching Wrestlemania tonight!
Re: The Wrestling Thread
Just such odd results.
Decent to good matches, and fuck me Shane, but still. Odd results. And fuck Reigns.

I really enjoyed it. Regretting my decision of staying up. I will be asleep at the gym I am figuring.
