The Wrestling Thread
Re: The Wrestling Thread
I hear that Sting is now doing Promo for WWE and is pretty much working "behind the scenes". Just wish he'd get his ass into gear so we can have Undertaker vs Sting. Sting wants it, Taker wants it and the fans want it. What better way than to have them pretty much retire each other on the grandest stage of em all?

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I'd be happy to not see it to be honest. Sting hasn't had a good match in nearly a decade at this stage and without the streak there's not really much point.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
15 years ago it would have been incredible.
Now, it would be two guys who are arguably past retirement age slowly slugging at each other.
Also there's a very real risk to both wrestlers that it'd end up being embarrassing to watch - especially after the attitudes surrounding the WrestleMania match this year.
Yes it could have been a great end point to two legends, but I certainly don't want to see my childhood favourite wrestler (The Undertaker) bow out in a dull match.
I'm intrigued as to what they'll do with him for next year's WrestleMania. If he does compete then it's almost guaranteed it'll be a retirement match. But do we want to see him go out on 21-2, or 21-1 and 1? Also who would he even face?

What, you don't want to see a broken down 49 year old man fight a broken down 55 year old man in a t shirt?

Re: The Wrestling Thread
From a match quality perspective, Triple H would be far better opponent for Sting I feel.
Re: The Wrestling Thread
I'd take Sting vs Triple H, but only because I don't care that much about either, so if it's pants then zero fucks are given.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I think they should either just say lol what retirement match and let him have an icon vs icon match with Shawn Michaels. Or put Michaels in a mask or something. Loser leaves town and retirement matches were made to be broken anyway, that's always been their storyline purpose. They could also bill it as DX vs NWO for extra flavour.
Or they can make Sting a mysteriou s character again and give him a programme with Bray Wyatt where he doesn't have to wrestle much.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
There's always The Rock. The match wouldn't be a classic, but it'd certainly be a memorable moment. Surely Sting is in better shape than Hogan was for his Rock bout?
I remember reading that Sting was one of only 2 or 3 guys Rock said he'd be interested in coming back for as well.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I reckon have a ladder match between Steve Borden and Gordon Sumner for the right to use the name Sting.
That reminds me, a similar match between Scott Hall and Masaki Sumitani over the name Razor Ramon would have been awesome.

All right, so I MADE a mistake! ONE MISTAKE!
Can't a man start over?! Do I have to keep on PAYING?! HUH?!
Maybe I should make another mistake! ...maybe TWO more!

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Sting vs The Rock would be even more embarrassing as Rocky's sharpshooter would just highlight the fact Border can't even apply his own finisher properly.

Or how about Sting vs Kevin Steen for the right to wear a t shirt in the ring? Steen beating the shit out of old men is always fun.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
At this point I can only really see a STing and Bray Wyatt angle being the only one to work.
Undertaker vs Sting is the dream match but this past Wrestlemania was seemingly the last chance to pull it off, if then.
As mentioned I haven't seen a good Sting match in about a decade (although might be able to pull it out of the bag for a one off) and The Undertaker seems more and more beat up every time we see him, the match with Lesnar was hardly a classic.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
decided to watch some wcw since i've only seen bits and pieces before. first two episodes of nitro down, currently watching fall brawl 1995... the first match between brian pillman and marc mero - sorry, flyin brian and johnny b badd - went on far too long. nobody wanted that match to last as long as it did. now army guys are fighting, now the match is over. this is not a good show so far.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
If I remember rightly the War Games match that year was good. If I were you though I'd just skip ahead to the Nitrogen episode where Scott Hall jumps the barrier. That's where WCW starts in earnest.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
yeah i had considered doing that tbh. thought it give the early ones a go but there is so much stupidity i dont know if i can. in 2 episode, 3 people lost their debut matches, although one was a disqualification.
