Currently reading "Death of WCW".

Seems like anything pre-Scott Hall is a mess of Dusty/Jim Herd/Bill Watts being shite/too old fashioned bookers. After that the booking is still a mess, but at least in an entertaining fashion.

Prince Devitt is now Finn Balor.

I mean, I guess it's better than Fighty McIrish or Leprechaun Mulhoon or something.

Half the mythical warrior leader of na fianna who built the giant's causeway and formed the Isle Of Mann by throwing a sod of turf into the sea, and half the king of a pre-Celtic race of centaurs then. I like it actually.

Well, that's pretty sick.

I thought it was just "Generic irish man" name, rather than "Irish as fuck with cool ass mythology behind it"

It sounds cool now but just wait for the "like a fight on the cobbles in Temple Bar on Saturday night Maggel!" shite to start. Devitt is from Wicklow not Dublin though that probably makes no difference. The thing Wicklow is most famous for is a song about trying to get the coin together to go to annual candle-makers union pissup. If JBL gets a hold of that then he'll kill the character.

I thought Devitt was going to NXT? JBL has nothing to do with that anymore.

If JBL is still on commentary by the time he gets to RAW, I can't guarantee I'll still be watching..

So many bits on this Monday Night Wars show I'd forgotten about. Terry Funk hitting Chris Candido in the stables and getting kicked by a horse, and Kurt Angle teaching Godfather what a condom is were brilliant

Got all 3 nights of King of Trios 2014 downloaded, but at a combined running time of 8hrs 12min, it might be a while before I watch it all

Video phone footage is floating around now of him coming out to help Itami at last night's tapings, hitting a few stereo hangtime dropkicks and double-stomping one half of The Ascension in the back of the head. Looks like they're going to be using him properly for the time being anyway. I doubt WWE will go for it but I'm calling them TEAM FUCKING KICK til I hear anything better.

Or, if Adrian Adonis and Jesse Ventura were the East-West Connection then maybe they can nickname Bálor "The Playboy Of The Western World" and call them The Far East-Far West Connection? Or seeing as they both wrestle strong style for even more of a mouthful in honour of Terry Gordy and Steve Williams they can be The Far East-Far West Miracle Violence Connection?

CHIKARA's King of Trios event was all kinds of awesome.
Awesome performances from The Colony, The Golden Trio, The Devastation Corporation, Spectral Envoy and loads more.
Also really enjoyed the Tag-Team Elimination Tournament on Night 3 - Los Ice Creams and Old Fashioned worked great together, and the bits they did with the sprinkles were brilliant.

While there were a lot of great athletes performing, I'd have to say my favourite of the weekend is a tie between Silver Ant (that missile dropkick to Volgar's face was perfect) and Dasher Hatfield (favourite part being him getting one of The Spirit Squad (I forget who) in a submission, hooking their legs behind them in the waistband of their trousers, then running around to do the ref's job asking if they submit).
Also a worthy mention goes out to Icarus, who is pretty much what my idea of a champion should be. Good in the ring, sells his opponent's moves but makes it look believable when he's down and gets a second wind. Plus, he seems proud to be the champ, making the belt as important as he is - whereas I'm finding in the WWE that the majority of their champions just want the added bling, the last champion who seemed to actually want it was Daniel Bryan (though you could argue Ziggler, too, but he sells EVERYTHING, good or bad).
Wish I had a bit more extra money to be honest, as I'd happily get more CHIKARA stuff from smartmarkvideo.com, but alas, I can't even really afford another month of the WWE Network at the moment!

Oh shit, another worthy point of note from King of Trios being the Atomic Tag Match between The Submission Squad and The Gentleman's Club, which I can't do justice in a type-up. It's absolutely batshit crazy and one of the reasons why I love CHIKARA.
