Thought I'd post a thread for Real Ale fans to share any old favourites or new discoveries. Couple of ones I've recently come across to start you off.
Witchfinder General - Excellent Dark Mild with coffee and dark chocolate overtones.
Old Trip - Dark Ruby beer with a sort of banana aftertaste.
Don't remember the breweries for either I'm afraid, but I think they're both local to West Yorkshire.

Hogs Back A Over T - Dark, treacley/fruity, yummy and strong as fuck. 9%. Will kick your arse. Actually, it's barley wine.
Hogs Back T.E.A. - Hoppy and fruity, not too much character but wonderful to knock back a few in an evening - nice and easy going, but not insultingly watery. 4.2%.
McEwan's Champion - Rich, dark and stouty, a bit oaky too. 7.3%.

Youngs brewery is my favorite. Their christmas pudding ale that I havent seen in fucking years was simply the best thing ive ever drank. Me and a friend quested Worcester and the bar had beers that constantly change. Soon as the barrel is empty some other beer takes its place. Though im going to have to consult his ale log as ive totally forgotten what the beers we drank were called. One really did take my fancy, it was a porter of some form. Watch this space.
Absolutely not. Theres very little variance in ciders. Dry and sweet/good ciders and Strongbow and thats it. No discussion to be had.
Edit 2: Oh and the very poor ciders, worst than Strongbow (Jacques, Koppaberg, etc)

Again, thats another beer I really highly rate - not in a can though. The ones ive been particularly happy about are the Meantime ales that can be found in most Sainsburys. They do an IPA, Porter, even a Pils I think, and they're really solid drinkable ales.

Its great stuff. I love all of Youngs range. Just really want the christmas pudding ale to return to Tesco/JS/ASDA/Michaels shelves. I contemplated buying it off the internet once, but I dont know...something about buying booze off the internet that I dont like. Im still denying that im an absolute pisshead and everything.
