Here kids, we see a classic case of troll's remorse.
Re: What's upset you?
I dunno. It's not really upset me so much just made me feel really weird and sad.
I found this on ancestry.co.uk about my Great Grand-dad
along with a lot of pictures of Thiepval and Gommecourt cemeteries. It kind of makes me feel strange because my Grand-dad, the one who James' widow was pregnant with, up and left the family and didn't stay in contact with them. I have great aunts and great uncles I never even knew about.
I found this on ancestry.co.uk about my Great Grand-dad
James took part in, and was killed on, the First Day of the Battle of the Somme, 1st July 1916.
His unit, the Queen Victoria's Rifles was part of the 56th (London) Division, and was briefed to attack the strong German position known as the "Gommecourt Salient". The idea was to divert German attention from other parts of the front. Early in the day, although they suffered high casualties, the London Regt. did make good progress and found themselves in the German lines, maybe as far ahead as the 3rd line of defences.
Unfortunately the North Midland attack on the other side of the German position failed, and the Germans were rapidly able to counter attack against the Londoners, who were not reinforced all day. Eventually they were forced to retire, having suffered very high casualties. James was one of the day's casualties, it is not known how or exactly where he fell, and he has no known grave. There are some 600+ buried in Gommecourt No2 cemetery who are unidentified, many baing from the QVRs - he may be amongst them.
As his body was not identified, he was officially classed as "missing", which meant his widow, who was 6 months pregnant at the time, recieved no army pension for 6 months until he was officially classified as killed in action.

Thank you!
Well I'll give you an update.. It's now been 3 or 4 days since she was given 48 hours, so it proves she's fighting on. She hasn't improved any, but I've been reassured that she is comfortable - I went to see her on Friday and it was unbearable seeing how much she'd deteriorated in less than a week. But she's in her own little room overlooking the university which is nice... She seemed oblivious to be honest but opened her eyes and smiled at me...
The doctor said that at the moment it is a balancing game. She has fluid on her lungs yet her kidneys are not creating enough urine so they must be very careful how much fluid they give to her.
All we can do is hope she doesn't contract a hospital bug or something.

I've got some stuff that's really upsetting me at the moment but I'm also very much a 'bottle it up' kind of guy so you may see an explosion on here soon!
