if your having issues with the pill then I wouldnt recommend getting an Implant, because its just chucking the same hormones into your system, the only difference is you cant stop taking it if it fucks you up and you gotta go get it removed.

I have been on about 5 different pills, they all screwed me over in one way or another so I dont use them anymore. I just deal with condoms

Just so the others know, that isn't a femmedom or whatever they're called, this is an anti rape device. It has spines on the inside that attach into the rapists penis. It can't be pulled from his bell end without destroying it. Some south african woman invented them.

the implant has been great for me. i just used condoms with my first relationship then i tried the pill the forst type made me gan 1/2 a stone in a week so that was out, the second made my skin bad.
terrified on needles but i thoght one every 3 years is better than one every three months.

my moods and emotions were very up in the air for about 6 months after i had it put in but i was having a bad time anyway.

its definetly worth it and ill get it done again when this one has finished.

I've been on the same pill for a few years, not had any problems after the first six months or so when it just made me prone to either crying or being randomly angry for no given reason.

Touch wood it's still fine, aside from the occasional skin flare up.

I've been using the Depo-Provera injection now for 2 years with a gap inbetween, been back in it now for 5 months and I'd never change it. I'm fine with needles, they put it in my lower back now where it starts to get fleshier instead of my upper thigh, bigger muscle there so it's less painful afterwards, I used to not be able to put weight on my one leg for a day or two after I had it. No periods whatsoever with them and my skin/mood is fine. Supposed to put up to 8lbs on in 6 months with it, but I'm useless at putting weight on anyways so that hasn't affected me.
I was on the Microgynon 30 pill before this for 5 years, and I hated it! Made me feel ill and dreaded taking it etc. I did want the implant too, but I heard you're supposed to feel it under the skin, and I'm pretty thin anyways so it would be really noticable for me being matchstick size and that, don't fancy that!
But, I'm happy with the injection, I recommend it! Except when I stopped having it, my moods were awful, my ex said it was like I'd saved up all of my bad moods from the previous periods I'd missed and unleashed them all at once.. but I'm not like that whilst I'm on it

if the depo hadn't made me put so much weight on, I'd have stayed on it forever because of the simplicity of it. Go back every three months, get a quick job (alright so your leg is numb for a day but pff), sorted.

Hmm, I keep thinking about getting the implant. Just for the loss of periods really, as mine are horrendous (and, as Fjar has also said further up, they seem to have become worse with the pill).

My only worry with it is I remember being told it could, rather than stop your period, make it horribly irregular or infact worse still than it normally is, and cause really bad spotting - anybody had any of these problems? I know a friend who had it and they kept her on Microgynon to keep her periods regular at the same time - that seems a little odd to me?

I've no fear of needles so I think it really would be a lot simpler than remembering the pill all the time.

Any form of hormonal contraception can cause things like spotting, or irregular periods. Also getting the implant isn't like getting a regular injection. They use a cannula needle because the implant is fairly big, they have to numb the area and it's pretty gross really.

Should just have the normal Depo injection! It doesn't last as long as the implant, but it's a regular needle, and if they put it where I now have it instead of my leg, it doesn't hurt afterwards at all. And going back for it every 3 months is so much better than taking a pill everyday, even if you do remember it fine, it takes away the hassle of actually thinking about contraception on a daily basis. And my periods have stopped completely almost straight away after both times I've started having it

I've never taken hormonal contraception, and don't want to.
It seems like everyone has had a bad experience with them before finding one that works for them; i can't be arsed with going through that and also I'm a bit uneasy with the thought of hormonal manipulation, just doesn't seem right to me. Condoms have served me well and continue to do so. (although I'm not looking forward to having to start paying for them when I'm 21 or whatever age it is they stop giving them to you for free)

They never stop giving you them for free, at my docs at least.

They're also the second least effective form of contraception after the withdrawal method so lol, your loss.
