I just got told a couple of weeks ago that I have IBS. The main thing I was advised to do was to try and avoid things that are making me stressed out, as that's apparently what causes/aggravates it.
I know people get different forms of it (like some will get diarrhea and some get constipated), but the doctor gave me some stuff called Fybogel which you can buy in pharmacies, that's like powdered fibre that you put in your drink. It's disgusting but it's really really helped my stomach aches
Also, some people are affected by specific foods, so it could be worth cutting down on certain things and trying to find out if any of them improve it through trial and error. Things such as dairy, caffeine or spicy foods seem to be common ones.
(This is annabel latham by the way...probably my first post in about 3 years!)
