This is the bit that gets me, Arsenal are in the same position as Spurs, L'pool, Everton and maybe Utd (once the debts start racking up) in that you have a big enough budget to challenge the top of the Prem but only if you spend it wisely. Wenger has that down to a fine art, been top 4 consistently for over a decade but that's only because he and his team have been smart with their academy/transfers.

Take Wenger out the picture and look at the other teams, finding a manager who can find success doing that balancing act is the issue. We've only hit the right balance since Poch has been appointed, L'pool are a bit erratic and as a result splurge money on crap who do little to help be near the top 4, Everton always seem to hovering around but never seem to crack it for sustained periods and Utd just seem to throw money at it and have stumbled around since Fergie left. All 4 teams went through a few managers until they found the right person or in the case of a few teams are still looking.

If Arsenal get rid of Wenger I can see the same happening to them, the new manager will get a large warchest, they'll blow it on a few big names as a sign of intention but they'll struggle and everyone panics and throws yet more money at it, nowt changes then the managers out the door for having wasted X amount and the cycle repeats with a new manager.

Weird little squad coming out of Southgate.

Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Southampton), Joe Hart (Torino, on loan from Man City), Tom Heaton (Burnley).

Defenders: Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool), Phil Jones (Man Utd), Michael Keane (Burnley), Luke Shaw (Man Utd), Chris Smalling (Man Utd), John Stones (Man City), Kyle Walker (Tottenham).

Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham), Michail Antonio (West Ham), Ross Barkley (Everton), Eric Dier (Tottenham), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), Jesse Lingard (Man Utd), Jake Livermore (West Brom), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Nathan Redmond (Southampton), Raheem Sterling (Man City), James Ward-Prowse (Southampton).

Strikers: Jermain Defoe (Sunderland), Marcus Rashford (Man Utd), Jamie Vardy (Leicester)

Mostly surprised by the midfielders, Livermore/Ward-Prowse/Lingard seem a bit out of nowhere. Bunch of young, unfancied players, especially considering it's Germany first.

Actually a little bit excited to see how it goes, been a while since we've had some odd picks in the england squad.

Well Joey Barton has effectively just got a lifetime ban. :D

Apparently Middlesbrough fans were telling the referee to send off one of their players.

Ha ha ha. Ha ha ha ha ha....

Goals conceded this season:

25 - Spurs
29 - Man Utd
32 - Chelsea
39 - Man City
41 - Everton
42 - Liverpool
43 - Arsenal

Yet you don't include a Spurs goalkeeper or defender in your team of the year? I'll have some of whatever drugs you're on!
