Well, Motty had a good point really. If you open the box, it could get ridiculous and used for every single decision going and just ruin the game completely.
However, the two decisions today in both games were just awful.

Wimbledon style could work, maybe not 3 per game as there is much more regularity of error in tennis but 1 per game perhaps. Or just for when the ball goes in the net.

I think it should be done for goals.
The ball goes in (alledgely), and a replay showing if it was offside/over the line is available within a minute or two.
If it isn't a goal, just knock it back to the keeper for goal kick instead of kick off. Job done.
Re: The (Un) Official Football thread
You don't even need replays. You just need to stick a chip in the ball and a infra-red line across the goal mouth and the referee gets told electronically it's in.
But I don't want to see technology for diving, offsides and whatnot.

That's the thing.
A goal being put in from an offside position is as annoying as being disallowed for not being over the line to me.
For example, the Tevez goal today.
Re: The (Un) Official Football thread
Yes, but the problem is, if we want to check every offside, you'll destroy the game. There's a lot a game which will take time to sort out, stop and start the game. Even if you give 3, it still adds extra time into a game.
That and it would so blatantly be used for timewasting, too.

Indeed. Maybe having so many over a season instead of per game. Or making the referee be responsible for when he's unsure about a deicision.

It's one of those things really where I don't think it'd help the game and make it worse. I mean if we have video replays allowed, someone runs through, called offside- they carry on and they score while the goalie doesn't bother to do anything because of the flag...do we then check the replay, see he's on and let the goal stand, or just say "oh, have a free kick."

Hmm, it creates lots of problems. It's be incredibly tedious if every offside decision has to be played on in case they score to see whether or not it should be replayed.

That kind of technology isn't likely to work, especially with the ball being kicked constantly, it would be very likely to make it stop working at the worst of times

It works in rugby mind.
There are so many cameras these days, all it takes is one official with a TV screen and an audio link with the ref.
