I was wrong.

I liked the first half of season 7 (until it became all White Walker boredom), but this season misses on every note. Spoilers:
I feel like they should have made last season all about finishing the white walkers, maybe ending with The Battle of Winterfell, and then made this season all about Cersei versus Dany. Certainly stretch out the Dany going mad stuff over more than 2 episodes, if you want to go down that route make it seem somewhat earned. Also then you can stretch out some of the character deaths and make them seem a bit more meaningful - Varys, in particular felt rushed, I don't feel like Tyrion would have sold him out like that, same with Cersei and Jaime where again their end felt a bit rushed. I love the Clegane stuff though. It was a really good episode, just needed a bit more build up to make decisions like Dany going mad not seem a bit hollow. They needed more episodes.

Unexpected, if somewhat disappointing, ending to GoT.

Glad that Tyrion got one last good speech in before the end. Laughed at the reaction to Samwell's suggestion. Rolled my eyes at Sansa's declaration. Was pleasantly surprised by Bronn's contribution.

Was alright. Sincerely hope the last books will be more fulfilling though. Eventually.

For the poor season leading up to it, the finale was actually pleasantly respectable, at least as much as it could be. It was nice to see all the characters get a decent send off as well, even if some of them were fairly unrealistic.

I liked Season 8 and thoroughly enjoyed the finale.

I thought the season was uneven but excellent in parts. However that finale left me completely cold. It was a huge disappointment.

The new season of Better Call Saul is excellent.

Other than that, I've just been watching old movies for the past few weeks.

Yes, agreed- Better Call Saul is excellent. If you like Bob Odenkirk (Saul) he is also in The Post on Netflix which is about an American newspaper.
