Watching it as usual, but this lot have the charisma of dried cat shit. None of them are memorable or interesting really. :|

Caught up with The US Office yesterday, good to see it's maintained its standard as a solid, good show. Once I was done with that, I started looking up some of the actors, and it turns out that Ellie Kemper (Erin) is engaged to the co-creator of an Adult Swim show called Eagleheart.
So, downloaded the first 3 episodes so far..
Effectively, it's like Adult Swim's attempt of a show like Darkplace, but instead making it about American '90s cop shows like Walker, Texas Ranger.
It's excellent.

Yeah, I feel the same at the moment, but doesn't it usually start off like that? Usually far too many in the first few weeks, then once Sugar's weeded out a few early casualties it picks up. They do seem to be a lot of really annoying ones though, especially some of the girls!

Why, when Stannis's character is entirely based around him being a man of honour who always does the thing that his oaths require him to do, would you have him sleep with Melisandre? I'm guessing they've put it in so that when she gives birth to the shadow creature you get some background as to where it's come from and so that her control over him is more explicit rather than the more complex relationship detailed in the books. However, it undeniably changes who Stannis is. How are we meant to believe in his decisions as a character from here on in where he'll refuse to break his word, if he already has? /fanboy rant.

Someone else mentioned this to me (haven't watched yet) and it sounds pretty stupid - "breaking the paladin" comes to mind. I assume it's established that he's married to Selyse at some point before this happens?

I don't think Selyse is mentioned at all in the first episode. Feel free to prove me wrong, but I believe that Selyse had just been cut completely.

That'd explain it though if she isn't mentioned - if it's not stated that he has a wife, he's not breaking any vows.

Staying with Game of Thrones, I saw some screenshots of episode two, and I don't know if I'm justified in disliking the styling of Asha/Yara. She just doesn't look like the kickass pirate princess she's described as being to me. :|

I haven't watched the episode yet, so it's possible she's only dressed in a ladylike gown because she's tricking Theon but if that's her styling for the whole series, I'm really diappointed.

EDIT: I really should wait until I watch it to complain. Looks like I'm right about the outfits.

*Must not put my purist hat on when I watch the series*

The intention was good, but the reality lasted all of about ten minutes into series one

I think you see her walking away from the burning statues of The Seven with Stannis. Then when this scene does take place spoilers he says that he has a wife and doesn't want to break his vows, then fucking does anyway :x

Ah, I see. So it's as if they're betting on the general public to be too stupid to figure it out for themselves.

It is an American series made primarily for Americans.
Who the hell reads anything in sigs these days, unless it's an animated gif?

it's a british-american co-production, actually.

also stannis/melisandre is pretty much confirmed as canon.
how else do you think shadow babies get made?

no seriously, grrm has said as much.
he also confirmed that he writes it as a deliberate breakdown of the fantasy tropes and i feel so justfied in all my theories :D

also i'm absolutely furious at how they took away cat's lines and gave them to robb. catelyn is the strategist, the one who thinks up the idea of allying with renly. NOT robb. robb is pretty stupid and that's the point. he's ned 2.0 with a bit more battle success.

It's still American, they put majority of money into it, and target audience are Americans, therefore it'll forever be dumbed down for them.
