Finished watching Series 1 of Lilyhammer - Steve Van Zandt (who plays the lead character) has said it's not a comedy, but I started watching it because it came up in the 'Irreverent Comedies' section on Netflix, along with Black Books and IT Crowd. In reality, it's not really anything like those shows at all. But it is definitely funny.

I really, really liked it, looking forward to Series 2. :D

I'll be giving it a go but the reviews don't fill me with much hope.
I know quite a few people on another forum who started it, and of the very few who are still are still watching, the most common description seems to be "it's shit, but I need to find out what's going on".

well I will give it a watch and see what happens, I will probably get in to it and have it cancelled just like Terra Nova :(

It's why I don't tend to watch series any more because a lot never get finished

Half way through first season in yank land. I tried first 3-4 episodes of Revolution & didn't really get on with it. The writing is pretty dreadful, as is most of the acting & I just got bored.

Doctor Who. Love the concept, hate the character.

I really wish someone would do a proper grizzly, horror, dark version of Dr. Who. Without female companions.

Just a solitary, battle-scarred, all-knowing-yet-all-fearing-yet-commanding character (bit like a cross between Lawrence Fishburne's character in Event Horizon and James Bond[it'd work, picture it]) with some real mindfucks of storylines.

The closest I enjoyed Dr Who was the weeping statues one.

But the new companion is so fit and not annoying!

Oh she's fit but companions don't add anything to the Dr Who stories. They're just a fit distraction from the slightly sub-par storytelling.

Jim. We can't be friends anymore.

JKJK. But I'm currently having a meltdown from how much I enjoyed it so I am completely irrational.

Seriously. I wish I was joking.

Pretty much this.

Oh, and I hope you took notice of the name of the author of the book...
