Steve Vai and the likes excluded? Or are you counting decimal places too?

I'm not really sure what you mean, but these are people who aren't famous.

All very well until the robot uprising and the atms scythe us down en masse with razor blade tipped tenners.

I'm increasingly switching to using cash for everything for transactions where I'm physically present. The invasiveness and privacy implications of cards just aren't worth it.

Really? What are they teaching? Is it some crazy experimental jazz type thing? I'm becoming a guitar teacher...

The pub we practice at every week accepts nothing but cash as payment. Considering that they're winning awards, extending bits and redecorating, I'd say they're doing fine without a card machine. It just means punters need to remember some money.

When I ordered my hurdy gurdy, the deposit was paid by cheque.

I'm indifferent to "modernisation of money" as some would call it. I know it's slightly more complex, but it's just different ways of paying to me

I never carry cash on me, except for a couple of quid now and then for sandwiches if I forget to make lunches for work. With all (bar about a fiver a month) of my purchases done on credit and debit cards I can keep track of and budget for every penny coming in and going out.

I made the decision to pretty much not drink anymore (apart from really special occasions) but my friends seem adamant to get me to ruin it somehow.

I have never needed booze to have a great fun time, so I have no idea why they seem so eager for me to get trashed.

You've made them realise their lives revolve around "making it to next weekend"

I can't be arsed to find the post it was mentioned in but i've never even seen a contactless payment thing! My new debit card can use them but i've never had the chance to try one. I wanna live in the future dammit :(

Contactless is wonderfully convenient, but there seem to be scarily few (aka no) checks on it.

As for modernisation of money, it is definitely in every serious business' best interest to make payment as easy and convenient for the customer as possible. Limiting the methods accepted for non-security reasons loses vast amounts of potential sales, including spontaneous decisions. Almost everyone carries a bank card on them that has access to all of their money, letting them use that effectively negates the idea of "If I draw the money out, then I will only spend this much" since you're showing them something they want that they can easily get.

I know they have them in Wetherspoons.

Don't think i've been in a Wetherspoons for a couple of years. I might go in on the way home from work tomorrow just to see if they have one.

Edit: screw that, Visa have a little map that tells me there is one in Boots. I'm so finding it tomorrow.

If I go to the pub, i'll take cash. Just day to day though I don't carry cash and pay most things with my card. The idea of paying for drinks with my card seems odd to me.

Wish I didn't drink all this rum on a school night.
