I've never given a mate a present for birthdays or Christmas. A pint yes, but not a present.

Giving people presents for birthday or christmas is pretty standard...

I'm probably being a massive tart and should get over myself but I'm a little annoyed that he hasn't acknowledged it whatsoever. I've seen him in person since he opened it as well.

He might be just as annoyed that you weren't there for his birthday.

Might be, although it was to go and see the Dropkick Murphys and I did ask him before I got my ticket.

And tbh I would doubt it anyway. He's never normally given a shit.

Gin is a perfect present. Right?

It must be a generational thing then, because we certainly didn't do it and nobody else I know does it. Family and other halves only get presents. We didn't even send cards at Christmas when we were at school. You'd probably get your head kicked in for being a "queer" if you sent one to your mate.

Not a generational thing unless I'm older than I think. Especially the queer part.

As you said, family and other halves only. At a push, workmates, but no more than a couple of quid.

Same here. Giving gifts when we were growing up suggests a level of affection normally only reserved for family members.

Changes as you grow up somewhat though.

Stayed up way too late.

Shitty dutch result, but on the other hand won the title in my first season with Tottenham on football manager, beating out Arsenal.

Still.

Way too late.

Going in early, so I need to get up for work in 5 hours-OH WHAT IS THIS SHINY THING ON REDDIT?

I also think I might have signed away my weekend in the name of overtime.

For the past year or so its became increasingly common for me to just feel crappy generally whilst drinking alcohol. Doesn't necessarily put me in a bad mood I just seem to be enjoying it less and less recently. Don't know whether to just stop drinking by habit at gigs/when meeting friends, cut down generally or just give a go at not drinking at all. Meh.

If it's drinking out of habit I'd just cut it out! Waste of money and nothing to be gained from it.

With Sam on that, really. Drinking is wonderful, but if you don't fancy a pint, no one's going to hand it against you. I found myself in a habit of always getting a beer when I went to gigs, even when I didn't really fancy it, and realised it was just a bit pointless. When I want beer, I'll have it (and plenty) and it's better for it.
