Striking up conversations with people you on first glances don't have anything in common with gets easier as you get older. Probably due to experience of having to work with different people in offices and stuff. You could practice starting random conversations with old ladies at bus stops - they seem to like talking, if you make a tit of yourself no worries as it's unlikely you'll see them again, or it could make their day. Once you actually start 6th Form it'll get easier too and you can find out small things that people find interesting, comment on it the next time and build from there. (Don't worry about a drink I'll help Noodle with his!)
