F1 figures aren't dropping in the UK or Germany, because it includes on demand in the figures. However viewing figures are dropping in countries where on demand isn't as available.

Sort of. We have a single pump, but it feeds all 8 cylinders with insane amounts of fuel. The pump on my car is rated at 106 gallons per minute, and we put it into the engine basically everywhere we can! There are injectors above the supercharger, which serve to both mix fuel with the air as it's being forced into the engine and to cool and lubricate the rotors on the blower. There are some in the inlet manifold, behind the valves, like a conventional engine in a road car. And then for good measure, we inject it directly into the combustion chamber as well (continuously, throughout the stroke cycle), which is what was being shown in the video.

Suppose when fuel efficiency is literally the least of your worries then just hose in as much as you can.

That sport is literally the polar opposite of GT and endurance racing in every aspect, like 100m sprint vs marathon running

Not strictly true in reality, but you're correct in spirit. We do actually limit the amount of fuel going into the engine at various times via a number of timer controlled bleed off mechanisms. Were we to put the full capacity of the pump into the engine at the start line, it wouldn't be able to burn it all and we'd probably cause hydraulic lock and blow the engine up. But that aside, as a general principle, "all the fuel, all the time" is about the right attitude...

Yeah that's true - I guess the next question is, if you're pumping in that much fuel - what the fuck do the superchargers look like!? How do you get that much air into the cylinder so it doesn't lock the cylinder? Nitrous or some other expanding compressed air to superchill the inlet?

Gratifying to see Rosberg comprehensively outdriving Hamilton at the weekend.

One of the few races that Hamilton won but I still really enjoyed, so much going on throughout and Rosberg being only one lap away from blasting past Hamilton only for Hamilton to make the perfect call and stop him, great fun to watch.


Also didn't realise Niki Lauda retired in 79, went and did something else, then needed some money so just casually came back and won another title before buggering off again!

If he'd stuck around (and not stepped out of the car in 76) he would almost definitely have had maybe 5,6, or even more titles, but the reasons he had for doing those things just makes me respect him even more.

Yep. Disappointing that the rain came and Hamilton pitted at exactly the right time. Rosberg would have had him probably that lap had it stayed dry.
