Haven't been home for 2 days now, I've drunk a large amount of beer and smoked £80's worth of weed. And also recorded a bloody good demo. Pub again in a bit too. Might go home tomorrow. Good times.

no, seriously, i tend to treat hype with only a little pinch of salt. because there's usually a reason for hype.

Clever marketing? Then again I have little desire to sit in a cinema or buy the DVD for the vast majority of films. I can probably count on one hand the number of films I would like to watch again, and I'm rarely in a hurry to put any of them on.

you special snowflake you

but really, if a lot of people say a film's really good then i don't see why you shouldn't take a chance on it. it seems really weird to say "a film that critics and public alike have raved about was good" as if it were a surprise.

Conversely, don't ignore a film because of negative views. I thought Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close was a sweet film, but pretty much all reviews I've seen have ripped it to shreds.

i tend to find a few reviewers that i agree with and go by what they recommend, then make any further film decisions by myself based on cast/writer and sometimes trailer.

I base my watching on:

A) Recommendation from friends
B) Whether it has Van Damme/Statham in it. I know what I'm getting. Not plot, a fuck load of mindless kicking. I enjoy it.
C) The actors I like. Walken, Stallone, shit like that
D) Whether a film looks good in the trailer
E) Who directed it. (See, watching all of Kevin Smiths movies)

Meh, I just find it difficult to get excited about films. I forget that lots of other people do for a whole variety of reasons.
If it sounds good, listen to it
