Got back from Graspop last night, best festival of my life, was absolutely amazing with a brilliant lineup


Only downside was the 14 hour trek home and some of the ridiculously rude French people both at the festival and on the way home could never see myself going to Hellfest, regardless of lineup

While I don't believe that all of the french are bad people, most of my experiences with them have been quite tenuous. For example last september when I was visiting friends in London during my freshers week, we were in a hostel room with 3 french people, that felt the need to be asleep by 8pm. So they literally asked us to either go to sleep at the same time as them, or leave. So we did. Most of us were out until like 2am but one of my friends went back to the hostel early, about 10pm.


They filed a complaint and had us moved out of the room.

And put all the alcohol we had in the bin.


They were absolute douchebags, but probably not because they were French.

Maybe it's just you All of the french people I met at Hellfest were awesome.

It wasn't even to me usually, take the afterparty in the metal dome for example, french guy with girlfriend, a few pits nearby, anytime anyone went anywhere near his girlfriend he ran at them and starting trying to attack them far beyond what's acceptable in a pit, just being a typical short person syndrome douchebag. Saw quite a few similar people over the weekend, all french (could hear them speak it).

Also on the way home had some stupidly rude people trying to push us off our table in a fast food place, we had about 7 bags around and under the table, moved away for less than a minute to order whilst still being really close to the table, and this family of about 8 who wouldn't really fit around the table anyway crowded around the table we were using (note, they didn't have any food, they were just standing around it). We moved back and sat down with our stuff, and they just crowded around our table, sitting on the empty seats and essentially trying to shove us off the table, even though there were loads of free tables with far more seats and far more space elsewhere. They then got their food, and placed it on our table even though we were sat there trying to eat, and kept looking at us as if to tell us to move, even though we had shedloads of bags, were there first, and were already eating. Guess what, they were french

Oh and also, as we were trying to set up camp, some french people came up to us saying "No, c'est non possible" over and over, because they were reserving space for a couple of mates (something I don't think is fair anyway, considering me and my stepbrother travelled hundreds of miles and for over 12 hours to get there, we had as much right as anyone to camp there), and generally acted like un-negotiable assholes. Luckily one of them acted like an adult and chatted with us, as they were saving about 5 tents worth of room for 2 tents, and the decent guy agreed that we could set up our tents in some of the remaining space.

I'm not saying all french are douchebags, there are of course some decent people, but they have a higher density of rude people any other nation I've ever met by far, which would really put me off going to a festival in France.
