Re: What has made you happy today
Just done interval training for the first time. It was pretty fucking brutal, but good. Also, I sold 4 albums out of the blue overnight, so I have money to go out tonight after all. Been a pretty sweet day so far

Managed to grab a Simpsons nap (opening theme sends me to sleep, the outro tune wakes me up again. True story.). Dunno if I'll be up for watching US election results tonight though.

Great gig from the Walking Papers last night, met Duff MacKagen who was happy to have photos taken with everybody.

Spoke to Dad this morning, he's doing fine and has been given the go-ahead to return to work on Monday. He's also been told no flying for 2 weeks, so he's told his work that it'll be 3 weeks before he flies again, and the docs have told him to stop doing 12hr days at work with only 20 mins for lunch. He's now under doctors orders to start at 9, finish at 4 and take an hour for lunch
To put that into some context, he's been starting at 7/7:30am and finishing around 6/7pm for the past 10yrs. Bloody workaholic!

Oh dear, I think I might have a problem too as those hours feel quite normal to me

Television is the opium of the people

Perfect half-hour nap, it's amazing.

It's not the benefits, it's just the image of you suddenly clapping out like a narcoleptic once the Simpsons tune starts and then waking up when the outro plays.
It'd totally be viral on YouTube

Also bear in mind he did about 5 years of those hours, 6 days a week. Plus, he often only took about 20 mins for lunch - enough time to go to the shop/cafeteria to buy a sandwich. Sometimes he'd start earlier as he's usually wide awake for 4am..
Thankfully this'll all stop now, as it clearly wasn't doing him any good!

When I worked for Royal Mail I used to work 6pm til 6am shifts regularly. We had proper breaks including diving out to the pub at about 9pm for a couple, but it was seriously making me ill. Quite a lot of people in that sorting office were constantly on the sick for stress related illness and the building was finally declared unfit for purpose due to having Sick Building Syndrome problems.
They used to say hard work never hurt anyone. That clearly is not true. Try to get your Dad to at least take it easy.
Eesh, fuck that! I don't mind the odd epic shift but I could never do it day in, day out.
Dad is taking it easy now - I think this whole experience has woken him up a bit.

Was in a shit mood after being led to believe my car was worth £900-£1200, only to find it was actually nearer £600. Just checked the value of Mum's car (which I would've been taking on) with webuyanycar.com, and they've said over £2000.
Looks like I'm keeping my car, then

Absolutely amazing gig tonight. Plus I managed to achieve my long term ambition to do coke off this LP sleeve:
