That is the point, it is very reasonable.

The one we looked at the other day was 275K and it was a two bed flat... to be fair that was a particularly nice one, but even still most the ones we have looked at around here are around #220k

I'm really pissed off by this convo too, I just want our own place now too so we can decorate it and start a family.

Although I always assumed we would live in the centre with the kids, but after today I'm ashamed to say I'm thinking that moving to one of the surrounding areas would be a good idea, and they tend to cost even more

Centre of anywhere is going to be expensive. Suburbs are cheapest can be scummy, towns outlying cities are the best middle ground, in Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire anyway.

God no, it's grim. I drive through Winson Green and Ladywood to get to work. Even in a car you have eyes in the back of your head. I suppose the regenerated parts of the city centre are nice at twice the price you'd pay for the same in the nicer parts.

I've always said a covering letter says why you want to work for the company in question (ie: why you've chosen them), whereas the CV explains why said company would want to hire you.

Well once-a-fucking-gain the house we put an offer down for has fucked up and they might not be selling, at least not for several months, probably half a year so come August I am going to be officially homeless.

I find it amongst the easier ones to answer. Just talk about everything in the future tense. The company is attractive as it's going places, etc., and how you believe you can contribute to the company's success (by also stating the generic transferable skills such as dealing with people, fast learning capability, computer literacy, telephone manner, etc.).
