I bought a USB adaptor to play my electric uke via the PC and it came bundled with Guitar Rig 4 LE. I've played with it a few times; it's ok. Is it worth upgrading to the full release? The publishers have a half price offer on so it would be about €45, iirc.

Is there any good genuinely free software around?

I've been using Guitar Rig in various forms for about 5 years now and overall I'd say it was shit and not worth spending money on. 99.99% of the sounds are terrible. The only reason I've stuck with it is because its easy to use and I use it purely for recording demos. If you want it, I'd suggest just torrenting it.

EDIT: As an example, here is a song that I used Guitar Rig on and then cleaned up as best as I could. Its not the best-

Ignore the flutes, the woman who recorded them had no idea about timing.

Firstly, the fact that my internet connection just decided to die and I've had to type this out all over again.

Secondly, I'm going offshore tomorrow evening for a fortnight, getting home late the evening before Bloodstock. Worse than this, I'm expected to do a normal shift in the lab tomorrow before heading off. This means that between getting into work at 8am, leaving at 4pm, arriving in Grimsby at 7pm, getting to the rig and finishing the site induction at around midnight, I'll have absolutely no time to myself. Basically, a 16 hour shit. Fucking arse.

Reaper + UX1 + DFH = Win. Seriously, for less than £200 total it's insanely amazing.

If that's the case I'll stick with what I've got. Thanks.

What do you need it to be capable of doing?

I'm not particularly good yet. It's main use is for recording demo covers of songs I would like the group I play with to include in its next songbook. For now I just want to have a bit of fun experimenting with different effects.

Managed to get deodorant marks on top and toothpaste in hair rushing to get ready

I'm having one of them days where nothing went right and it's the first day at work this week for me. I just know before I'm even there that the old hag I am working with will make it her mission to put me down today.

Also as silly as it sounds the Sarge is in a right mood with me for taking him to the vets for his vaccinations. He usually sits on sofa with me eating basil, but last night he hid behind the sofa. I felt bad as he was scared at vets so I picked him up and gave him a cuddle and the vet injected him whilst I was holding him and he wont come near me now.

Give it a day or so Kim and he'll be fine - my cat ignores and avoids me for a day or so after a trip to the vets too :)

Most humid day so far this year. Fuck you humidity! Walked to the fuel hangar, was like I had entered a wet t-shirt competition and my tools were soaked in condensation.

Not really. Obviously, it's not going to be up to par in terms of an actual amp and something top end like pro-tools, but for bedroom recording it's pretty awesome.

People pissing about with my things at work. That and I need to sort pay out as my hours haven't changed but my wage is decreasing for some reason. Also have to go in early on Saturday for a bloody meeting, where from what I've heard there's going to be a mini staff revolt due to wage payments. From what I can gather it seems as though the boss is using the extra temps (who are set to take our jobs in a couple of months when we leave) as an excuse to use part of our wages to pay them. Pure bull as far as I can see, I want my money!
